Bought as a survival tool but needed lighter fluid evaporates so fast it is not a good tool.

first off folks, you have to add standard lighter fluid to the thing just like you would the permanent match listed elsewhere at budk. I have bought several of those and they worked just fine and this is the same thing!! once that is done make sure the angle is correct for striking and you will get plenty of spark and fire. only problem I have ever had with them is that the fluid will evaporate in a few weeks whether using it or not, so check and fill often.

No flame Reviewed by Paul on Jan 30, 2015   1 out of 5

I got two of these as gifts. Tried them both and could not get a flame. They did spark a little. Since they did not work, I did not give them as gifts. Will NOT buy this item again.

no fire for me Reviewed by Gene on Jan 09, 2015   1 out of 5

I tried this several times and got plenty of spark but no fire. I could see the tinder inside the shell but could not get any to come out. I think the only way to get this to work would be to pour a little lighter fluid into the shell and get the tinder wet so that it would burst into flame on the striker when you ran it over the outside of the shell where the striker point is.
