Big freaking knife Reviewed by Kip Hert on Mar 08, 2016   3 out of 5

There is big and then there is PRIMITIVE big! I like this knife, and would have loved it but it came scuffed and scratched, and partially sharp about every couple inches is sharp then dull then sharp. it appears as though the person finishing it got a cell phone call in the middle of working on it and went to lunch, forgetting about it after that. It had polishing compound on it still in the scratches, and little scratches here and there on the blade like it had been tossed in a box with 20 other knives. For 25.00 bucks I can't complain much, the blade is one solid big freaking blade. I just would like to have been able to display it. The sheath is good but when I snap the handle snap band around it the band pulls the knife out of the sheath about an inch. THe band is tight and slips towards the narrow part of the handle and so the blade slips up exposing about an inch of the blade. I gave it a 3 because I like it but compared to several other blades I have purchased this one is of less quality.

I've been wanting to buy this Bowie for the longest time., and finally did. It's big and heavy., but not as heavy as I anticipated. My Western Outlaw is actually a bit heavier. It came in very sharp and the wood handle is impressive and so is the sheath. The blade however wasn't very refined as it was wavy on one side. You can tell it wasn't finished even as it should have been. It also had scratch marks near the brass guard. But all in all, its worth every buck that I paid for it. I was going to use it to chop, but I think its better that I display it, probably due to the lack of anticipated weight. Would I buy another one?? You betcha I would.

pretty good Reviewed by jill hoddin on Aug 10, 2014   5 out of 5

its big, its heavy, and some what sharp. Price was great, and after a bit of sharpening it was ready for use. Love this peace. only if you are a true lover of knifes will you like this item.

Great Value Reviewed by Jim Kosz on Jun 22, 2014   5 out of 5

Very well made,, thick, solid, Iron mistress type Bowie and for $24 "forget about it". Interesting tang because there is a small wood filler cap on the end handle/pommel indicating a hole was drilled all the way through the handle. I would guess near full tang with threaded end and bolt. Very well made thick case also, for the mine a great XL bowie!

Great for the price Reviewed by Mike on Jan 09, 2014   4 out of 5

I've always liked the looks of the "Primitive Bowies" and as far as I know, have all that are available. True, this one lacks some of the spit and polish of some of the others, but it's also 1/4 the price of several of the competitors, and with just a little work looks a LOT better. The blade is carbon steel, not stainless, so use care as far as rust goes. Comments about the comparison to the original Bowie knife I find amusing, as no one truly knows what it looked like as it was a one of a kind, hand made piece that vanished at the Alamo and the rest is legend. For the price, you can't go wrong, so, as usual, good work Bud K!!!

good wood chopper Reviewed by ysidro garza on Nov 25, 2013   4 out of 5

good for chopping small logs and small branches, the blade is thick, but the blade raddles after cutting a small oak tree but it got the job done one of the best knives I have

Decent Reviewed by Chase on Jul 19, 2013   3 out of 5

I got this knife last year in my first order from budk it comes rather dull but you can't blame them it is a thick blade so it's good for chopping smaller logs but the brass piece on the back falls off quickly and if you want to get sharp it takes a lot of patience overall a good knife
