some guys complain about quality but what do you want for $10? I was satisfied. Small package a bunch of features I just put rubber band around to hold some stuff on otherwise you loose it. Cheap, functional, and all in a small package. You don't even know it is in your pocket! Works wet to boot!Would you recommend this to a friend? Yes

As an Eagle scout, I've always found value in a smaller set like this. The compass works, the magnifying glass can help you make up for the size if you can't read it for any reason or light a bird's nest (not a real one, before non-scouts freak out), a temp and hygrometer set to give you a real idea of the conditions you are in, a flashlight, and a whistle that hits some serious decibels. The problem, however, is the flint and striker. I followed the directions and everything, but still can't get it to spark. I'd honestly have an easier time using the old stick-rubbing method.

I was excited to receive the item, only to find the compass broken. I was sent a new one without having to return the old one. The compass has several unique functions. I especially liked the way it lights up for night use. When I did received the replacement the hydrometers are 20% different, and the temps are 10 degrees different.Would you recommend this to a friend? No

i was going to catalina island solo in a small craft when my gps stoped working, i was alittle worried about trying to find my heading, when i remembered i had this in a survival bag....it was the perfect tool at the perfect time. not everything is great on this, but i give it five stars because in that time of serious need i would have paid $40 to 50 bucks for it and the compass worked great....a must for a survival kit.... thanks budk.Would you recommend this to a friend? Yes

The compass part of this device works great. I can't get the compartments open for the mini survival kit. what i bought it for was the EZ stored mag glass and the compass itself. the temp gauge is mildly accurate, and that is more than needed survival situation.
