Got two of these during free shipping for Halloween. Sprayed the blades silver. Sprayed the guards black. Left the handles wood. Great accessories for our Pirate outfits!

Look at the picture - if you're expecting a hard-hitting, long-lasting sword for training purposes, then look elsewhere. But for kids' pirate play or overall running around with light weed-whacking, these are great. I got two and put one in the closet for when the first one breaks. My boy loves it (he stashes it between his mattress and boxspring at night - you know - "just in case"). I'm not sure what kind of wood it's made from, but it's not pine... lighter than oak, but then again, "hardwood" is sort of a subjective term. My kid has some PVC swords I made for him for hard play, and this one is more for dress-up, light pretend-play, and looks cool as hell. Get a few on sale and you won't be disappointed, as long as you're not trying to cut pumpkins in half or anything...Would you recommend this to a friend? Yes

These swords are not made of hardwood. They are thin, fragile and nowhere near good for practice battles or heavy duty LARP. I got two of them to practice with and they're hardly even good for a decoration. The wood is light weight and flimsy. The pieces are glued together. Overall, I wouldn't pay $10 for these, especially not online. I /might/ pay $5 at a fair for one or both. Very poor product, but no great loss in fundsWould you recommend this to a friend? No
