I have one of these throwing axes, first off let me say this robert shifflet is one of the most brilliant designers of knives i have seen in a long time. His triple lightning set is also great for the novice to begin with for the throwing trade. The axe is well balanced and easy to throw. You have to work with the aim a bit, because it is a lot different then throwing knives. If you do not get it right away stick with it, thowing is a great hobby and it is a great stress releiver. Seriously though if you want a great axe for throwing with out breaking the bank. BUY THIS AXE. P.S. make sure you practice safely when using these throwing knives. They do bounce back from time to time.
Just got it late yesterday I didn't have much time to admire it but when I woke up we had a garage sale and I could not put it down I was walking around the whole time with it in my hands it is so cool. I have multiple throwing axes (all from budk of course) but this time I wanted a heavy duty axe and I saw the Nordic fire axe but I just got this hatchet because its green and I didn't know about the quality. Now that I have this I'm getting the fire axe now. The fiberglass is like feather weight all the weight is to the head of the axe witch is perfect for splitting wood or working its pretty sharp I'm just going to grind a better edge at work just because and its beautiful. The blunt end is perfect for hammering in nails and I've chopped some branches with the sharpened part. I defiantly recommend it if you want a nice axe that wont let you down. If you like axes and you like green go for it you cant go wrong with budk and their great prices. Thanks budk now I'm going to order the fire axe from black widow.
In my 10 years of throwing tomahawks, I've never thrown anything this great. It is very well designed and its durability is out of this world! I would recommend the M48 tactical hawk to anyone who enjoys the art of throwing, beginner or professional. Thank you BudK!!
This came really fast and is a really great tomahawk, razor sharp, and not small either, this is the real deal, thanks BUDK!
As usual, BudK was great with shipping. Ordered on a Sunday night with 7-10 day shipping, got here the next Friday afternoon. The axe itself came decently sharp out of the box, more than good enough to go throw with, I'll put a better edge on when I get better at it. As I expected, the cord wrapped handle started coming undone within ten throws, and I full removed it. Best thing I could have done, without the cord the axe was much better balanced and I went from sticking 3 out of 10 to 8 or 9 out of ten immediately. So what I'm saying is if you plan on actually throwing this, just save yourself the time and take the cord off. Even with several less than good throws that bounced it off the stump I was throwing at pretty good, the axe held up just fine. The blade was no less sharp then when I started. Great beginners thrower, like I said without the cord the balance is great, and you can certainly learn to be good with this one
