Product Description
The Grosse Messer is German for "Big Knife." This weapon originated in central and northern Europe where it was used by noblemen and peasants alike. It could be wielded in one or both hands, and its wide, stout blade was capable of delivering devastating, shearing strokes through armor and flesh. The hand-forged blade on this weapon is constructed of 1055 carbon steel and it is incredibly sharp. The guard and heavy pommel are made from blued steel and feature rosewood handle scales riveted to the sword's full tang. This sword includes a wood scabbard covered in black leather.

I just got the sword today, it's honestly the best sword I have in my entire collection. It's strong, comes sharp, and incredibly deadly. It came with a good coat of oil, and the scabbard it came in is light and strong!I love this sword, and it's a handsome looking sword. Unless you get this sword yourself, the picture doesn't do it justice. It's really polished and nicely put together. It is so far my most expensive purchase on TrueSwords, but it is indeed my best investment on the site.I'm thinking of shopping here again when I have the down time, because I am very pleased with this purchase. And it came rather quickly, I ordered 2 days ago, and it came and caught me off guard. I was as happy as can be when I got it out of it's box.As soon as I opened it, I cleaned off the coat of oil, took it outside for some test cutting, and it performed great! The box it came in was easily cut to shreds. I then tried the "phone book" cut test that made this Grosse Messer so famous among sword collector's.The phone book I had was three inches thick, and as I raised the big blade over my head and used both of my hands to bring it down, it cut the book cleanly in half. And frighteningly enough, it nearly split the wood block i had it placed on. I check the whole sword for any damage. Absolutely intact, still sharp, no loose parts, and only marred parts of the blade, which was easily cleaned off.All in all, this is a great sword for anyone who wants a functional, low-priced, no-nonsense sword. I highly reccomend it. This sword will serve you well, and for a long time. It is now the pride of my entire collection. You will not go wrong with this sword.I thank TrueSwords for their excellent customer service, and the care they put into sending your product without getting it damaged. Thanks again TrueSwords!5/5 for the Grosse Messer!
AWESOME! IT IS NOW THE PRIDE OF MY COLLECTION IT HAS CUT THROUGH EVERYTHING I HAVE TRIED.
Love it. A very interesting piece - looks exactly as it is described - a "big knife." Solid and very well-constructed. The scabbard is a big plus also - looks great.Nice feel and the grip can easily accommodate two-handed use. Beautiful blade with a nice edge. Very pleased.
