Proven in use since 1840 on Mississippi showboats, New England whalers, steam locomotives and horse-drawn trolleys, Dietz lanterns stay lit in any weather! With the easiest operation of any lantern, they’re designed for rough-and-tumble outdoor use. The tin-coated steel is finished with a black, durable lacquered enamel to prevent tarnish, the plated tank resists rust and the steel guards protect the heat-resistant globe. A thumb-lever lifts the globe for lighting and the hinged globe tilts out for quick cleaning or replacement. The Jupiter Hurricane Oil Lantern is the largest lantern made by Dietz, featuring a giant 84 oz tank, so that it can be used every night for two weeks without refilling! It’s an ideal light for evening chores or as a heat source in your greenhouse. The lantern has a 7/8” wick and comes ready to light, after lamp oil (not included) is added.
