I bought this knife because it was ten bucks and I would always joke about running off and joining the French foreign legion when my family gave me a hard time...I did not expect what I got. Most replicas I've bought were display pieces only and would fall apart if used extensively. This is now one of my favorite knives. Very sturdy, very heavy, steel feels like it could go through hell and back, wood handle. I love this thing. People are complaining about the sheath...but for the money I'll spend money for a suitable leather one because that's how much I love this knife. Seems like a perfect mix of self defense and utility. I've always wanted a ka-bar WWII style fighting knife, but i can not justify spending almost $100 on a knife right now. I have my grandfather's Korean War knife (obviously modeled after the WWII Ka-bar) but I don't want to use it as it's an heirloom and an antique. I will tell you this replica is far closer to the feel and sturdiness of that blade than the Ka-bar replica sold on this site. I am really really glad I added this to my cart.
This is a decent representation of a french foreign legion knife. Sometime post WW2 through 1970's or 1980's the troops were issued cut-down surplus pattern 1917 US bayonets (p17) as a fighting knife. This knife has a full tang, is heavy, and is fairly sharp. The sheath is ok for protecting the inside of your backpack or bugout bag, but I wouldn't rely on it on my belt. Overall, very happy with this for the price.
I love the blade the only issue that I have is the same issue I have with most of the bladed weapons I receive from then the sheath is nylon so eventually the blade will cut through
THE BAYONET CAME SHARP BUT PUT IT ON A CERAMIC STICK AND IT'S BEYOND SHARP NOW ! IT IS VERY WELL MADE ! ONLY DOWN SIDE IS THE SHEATH BUT I CAN LIVE WITH THAT FOR THE MONEY !THANKS ,JIM !!!!!!!!
