nice knife only thing I found wrong is the pocket clip came off while while wearing it. Oh well the knife is small enough to fit in my pocket so no harm done (only reason it got 4 stars not 5)
Purpose: EDC/Light cutting

United Cutlery's M48 Kommando line has been met with varying reviews. They are known chiefly for their version of the Vietnam tomahawk, and the line has branched out into many different products, some better than others.
This $10.00 pocket knife is a $10.00 pocket knife... not that there's anything wrong with a $10.00 pocket knife, but know what you're buying.
The blade came with an OK edge. First thing i did was take it to the sharpener. it took a pretty decent edge, but it is stainless... you know the routine. It certainly takes an edge well enough to do some cutting. The black coating is kind of fragile, and will come off with day to day use, but does look nice while it lasts. The assisted open is very tight out of the box (will probably loosen up a bit with use), so you have to put a decent amount of pressure on the finger stud to get it to flip open. Once it does, tho, if flips open quietly and has enough push to lock into place. This blade safety is a liner lock with a fairly small, angled thumb stud which also requires a fair amount of pressure to push out of the way to close the knife. On mine, the liner lock doesn't go very far over towards the center of the blade, so watch how hard you press and DON'T put any pressure on the back of the blade. If you do, you may not be able to count as high as you used to, or will, at least, need a good supply of band-aids. Just a heads up. The hinge is NOT overly strong, so I would NOT advise doing any kind of stabbing/digging/thrusting with this blade. At best, you'll probably break he tip, at worst, the blade would likely break at the hinge. This is strictly a cutting knife.
The handle is plastic, and the scales are reasonably tight (mine has the slightest of gaps between kn ife frame and the scales themselves) and are secured with a few small, star bit screws at the bottom and one larger near the top which also acts as the pivot pin for the blade. Handles feel smooth (see: slick), and the M48 medallion is a nice aesthetic touch. The back side has your typical pocket clip which should hold the knife in place, and the glass breaker at the pommel...well.... it breaks glass. Handy should the situation arise.
What's the bottom line? Not a working man's knife, but if you're in the market for a nice looking, stiletto type folder, and you don't do a lot of heavy duty cutting, this might be worth a look. If you're someone who puts their knife thru it's paces on a daily basis as I do, Bud K has a LOT of other, reasonably priced knives that you'll probably be happier with.
Again, not condemning this knife by any means, just know what you're getting.

ONE OF THE BEST KNIVES IV BOUGHT,,SO MUCH SO WHEN I LOST IT ,, I BOUGHT TWO MORE. ID RECOMMEND THIS ASSISTED OPEN KNIFE TO ANYONE
I bought this knife online and when I opened it I fell in love with it. Great knife, great blade, and great handle. One day I dropped this knife on my toe and the blade is so sharp from the box I didn't feel a thing till I looked down and saw blood. Now I'm not going to lie to you it still hurt but not as much as you would think. Plus if anybody has a problem with you the fast blade will probably tell them to screw off. Great knife!!
It's a decent knife, works well, guys love them when I give them as gifts! Seem solidly make, no complaints !
I am very skeptical when it comes to purchasing stuff over the internet. But I have to say that I was quite impressed the day my M48 Kommando arrived in the mail. This knife is everything it claimed to be. It fits well in hand, and the spring assist mech. works great! I going to buy some more for christmas presents.
great product-great value
Sturdy, quality, reliable knife. Looks good as well.
