From the Musha Collection comes this intricately hand-forged Shinryu Katana, which has a tsuba that depicts Shinryu the dragon of the skies. The dragon is known to control the wind, clouds, and the rain to keep balance for all life. It is praised for bringing balanced weather throughout Japan, but when angered it summoned thunderstorms. The katana has a full-tang, 1045 high carbon steel blade that is resilient and sharp right out of the box. A unique feature is the integrated Bo-Hi on the blade. Bo-Hi is commonly known as blood grooves, but that is a common misconception. The purpose of the Bo-Hi is to help reduce the weight of the katana, it actually has nothing to do with channeling the blood. Making the Katana lighter enables the user to wield the katana better and puts less stress on the hands. Not to mention it benefits some advance cutting techniques that require the katana to change direction rapidly. All Musha swords are able to be fully disassembled. The Kaku Gata style tsuba, fuchi, and kashira can all be swapped out for a different set. The wooden handle is wrapped with traditional black cotton cord and white rayskin. The katana’s blade can be protected in its black, lacquered wooden scabbard, which has matching cord-wrap.
