Product Description
Designed for sportsmen, avid outdoorsmen and military personnel, this Estwing Black Eagle tomahawk is forged of one rock-solid piece of steel and made right here in America! This American-made tomahawk has a lightweight design that makes it easy to carry, and it features Estwing's innovative shock reduction grip for comfort and durability. It's perfect for chopping and prying. Black Eagle tools are perfectly balanced and weighted, and built to last. Measuring 16-1/4" in overall length, it's an ideal size.
I am a huge fan of the simple tomahawk, the worlds first multi-tool. I own 5 'hawks and intend to buy another today. The Estwing 'Hawk won my heart immediately, it is made in the USA of a single drop-forged steel billet. It caught my eye as almost identical to the Estwing hammer and belt-ax my father has used since the 1950's and that I still use today. Although the grip has improved it is still the same ultra sturdy tool as the ones handed down to me by my Dad. It is lighter than the more expensive SOG tactical hawk with the advantage of being drop-forged from one solid steel billet, it's balance is perfect, it hits hard, throws well and stands up to use and abuse that would destroy the polymer-handled hawks that are a split handled bolted in head design. Don't misunderstand, I love my SOG hawk and my Cold Steel Trench Hawk which saw service overseas with my Son and which performed flawlessly, But I still wish that I had found this one first, it is lighter, and therefore faster -and less fatiguing to carry in hostile desert conditions- than either competing hawk. It is a superb breaching tool, it will chop wood, hammer, pry and throw quickly and accurately. In my opinion the balance and handling are superior to either competing hawk and it will NEVER break or wear out. If I could give it 6 stars I would. Don't be fooled by the small ax head, it's more than made up for by the perfect balance, out of the box comfortable, shock absorbing grip and overall sturdiness of the solid steel manufacture. It is one of 3 weapon/tools I own NOT made by Cold Steel, and I own quite a few edged tools. My hat is off to Estwing, I hope to see another 100+ years of flawless service from this fine manufacturer.
