If you're familiar with Denix replicas, you know they can range from very good to so-so. When I first received this, I said well, this is going back. It is not one of their best efforts. The grips are poorly fitted, the cylinder is tricky to slide out, the hammer is very stiff which makes double action operation hard, and worst of all, they plugged up the barrel with an orange plug! - something I haven't seen Denix do before. After I got over my disappointment (about 2 minutes), and decided to look on the positives - good weight, impressive from a distance (3 feet?), definitely has the fear factor - I decided to keep it, since I doubt a replacement would be any better. I carefully unscrewed the grips - luckily they have real screws and not just swage pins with screw heads. Anyway, that didn't help - the grips cannot be made to be in perfect alignment with each other, so I screwed them back on and went to work on getting the ugly orange plug out. By carefully drilling a hole down the center of the plug and then using a small Exacto hobby knife, not a utility knife, I was able to cut 2 parallel lines through the plastic down the barrel. Once I removed this small slice of plastic, the whole plug slid out easily. The other "problems" I'll just live with. At least Denix didn't gouge any of the screw heads by over tightening - I've seen that before. Overall, certainly not the best, but not a total disaster either. Would I recommend this? I seriously couldn't say.
