A multitalented beast of a knife, the Delta Defender Quantum Survival Bowie Knife is tough, versatile and easy to wield - perfect for challenging wilderness adventures, everyday cutting jobs and everything in between. Its 7 1/2" clip point blade is forged from resilient 3Cr13 stainless steel, shrouded in a chic, nonreflective black finish. Ideal for hacking and slicing, the blade's fine edge is carefully honed to razor sharp. Rugged sawtooth serrations on the blade spine make quick work of stubborn rope and cord fibers and even stout branches, small trees and other demanding materials. Through rigorous field work and harsh environmental conditions, Bushmaster's Survival Bowie is always a pleasure to wield, thanks to its impeccable balance and weight distribution and ergonomically molded handle. The no-slip rubberized grip forms a tenacious bond with your hand that sweat, moisture and grime won't break. The grip's delicate, hide-like texture yields a brandishing experience that's delightfully tactile and remarkably comfortable - even after long hours of tough hacking, slashing and cleaving jobs. Durable and easy to carry, the included nylon belt sheath capably protects the Bushmaster Survival Bowie through punishing terrain and brutal conditions. An integrated lanyard hole in the bowie's handle conveniently offers an additional transport and/or tethering option. With so many extraordinary features packed into one phenomenal knife, it's abundantly clear - if you had to pick just one fixed blade knife to take on your next wilderness excursion, Bushmaster's Survival Bowie is the smart, obvious choice.

One Third Tang Reviewed by Lee Knoper on Apr 13, 2018   3 out of 5

At first blush this knife would appear to have potential on the trail or in the field. The blade is about 0.131" thick at the spine, 3Cr13 is a popular and durable steel, and the alternating sawteeth evidence better bite and chip clearance than do conventional teeth. The balance point is about one inch in front of the blade/handle transition, and despite the longish blade, it feels like it might be usable for CQC in a pinch. The molded handle has a very light texturing. The sheath is well constructed, although it has no drain hole or tie point for a leg thong. It retains the knife adequately, can accommodate up to a roughly 2.5 inch wide belt and is oriented for right side carry. However, probing with a strong neodymium magnet reveals that the tang apparently stops at roughly the molded ridge between the first and second fingers (i.e., "one third tang"). Thus, if the intended use is likely to develop strong impact, torsional or flexing forces, then the handle will likely fail at that transition eventually. Perhaps good enough to throw in the truck for emergency use (as long as you remember its limitations), but not up to EDC expectations.

Great knife Reviewed by on Oct 30, 2017   5 out of 5

This came in my monthly SHTF box and was quite a surprise. It is nice and sharp right away, feels very sturdy, and the sawtooth back is different than most I've seen or owned. It has actual offset saw teeth and they are sharp. The offset is important just like on a regular saw. It clears out the material as the saw is in motion and keeps it from binding. It also has a very decent nylon sheath.
