Small cheap plastic handle, almost more kid sized rather than adult. Interior survival kit should be advertised as a match holder.Definitely not a rugged knife although the blade does appear to be not too bad. Compact size does make it very stashable.

I recently purchased a dozen of these for emergency packs. I am very happy with the quality for the price. The blades came paper cutting sharp, the compass is accurate enough for the average person to stay on course, the sheath is sturdy and the size is perfect for skinning game or basic survival needs. If you have delusions of being a one man army like Rambo, you will want a bigger knife, but for down to earth emergency survival I am very happy with these knives. Thank you Bud K

Decent blade. Handle isn't cheaper plastic as said. Filled it with hard wax and weight balanced at blade/handle connection. Came sharp but a few stokes on stone got it razor sharp. Small but got more than expected for price

This was a quality made knife. The price was more than right. It's awesome and cool looking. Fits on my belt and easy access to get to. Sweet deal to anyone. I buy a lot of products from BUDK and this was the best deal I have gotten.I have my next list in the making now. Thanks BUDK Tim Reeves

This is a great knife! It's weighted for throwing or jabbing. It's suitable for scraping and jabbing. It's useful for any excursion into the wilderness. I can't say though how difficult it would be to break its handle or blade, but it certainly seems tough eough to last a while. I would definitely recommend you buy it. The price is oustanding and unbelievable. I couldn't be happier with its purchase!

This knife is a great buy for 4 dollars, the survivor kit comes with matches, striking paper, fishing line, and a fishing hook. Great deal, good quality knife for its price.

I got this knife thinking " 3.99 ", this is the best 4 dollars you will ever spend!... I've had it for about a month now and used it a lot. i've gone camping, while there i, chopped wood, set up traps, used it for a variety of different things and it still handles amazing... the handle size is NO problem.. i have big hands too. it fits comfortably, the only thing i recommend is buying new matches.. the hook is pretty sweet in there also.. its really strong and durable. it can take a beating

I just got in this knife a few minutes ago. I got three for my sons because we love to go camping and they wanted one like dad has. These are perfect! they are small enough for the young camper like dad and they are cheap enough for the first collectable young camper. I bought them for a christmas gift. the blades are sturdy, and the handles are small enough for their hands. I can't wait to go camping after Christmas. this was my first ever order from budk and I am very happy with what I got for the money.

I have found this knife to be an extremely good value for the price. The handle is slightly smaller than I anticipated, but is fairly solid and the blade is decent. I was pleasantly surprised to find the survival kit in the handle with the matches and fishing line/hook because I did not remember reading about it in the description.

This knife is really not a bad deal for the money, the handle is plastic and the blade is thin but its a 5 dollar knife and you get what you pay for. Has some pretty cool stuff in the handle and it does make a decent survival knife. Overall, its a pretty good knife at a fantastic price point.

I ordered this for the sheath. I had a few cheap fixed blades that I thought would fit in the sheath so I threw it in with one of my orders. I expected the knife to be useless and it is. I won't even use it as an emergency back up. I practiced some sharpening with it, then discarded it. This thing is so cheap it will break under any amount of stress. I wouldn't even give it a kid to use because it could be hazardous when it breaks.

Haha wow, this knife is amazing! My father has a vietnam era bayonet and this thing is better in every way. But there are some faults, the handle is very light and small, the compass doesn't work very well but it would probably save your life in a survival situation. I let my friend stab a telephone pole and he had to be stupid lol, he broke the tip off and then I said "You know what, I'm going to just wreck it." So I hit it with a pick axe. If you are contemplating getting this, just do it. BudK? Great job...

Not wobbly like the others were saying. It's actually not bad for the price. Also the survival kit is definitely handy.

Today I put this knife through test,stabbed it into a large tree twice with all my power. It didn't even offer to break, I dug a hole with it for a fire, next I shoved it into the ground to dig up rocks for the fire,then I shaved down a stick for kindling and shavings. I built a small spear with it, I sawed a small branch off with the saw on the back side of the blade, actually hacked chips out of a larger piece of wood, then I built a small fire with the matches, until it started to rain. Hey for 5 dollars come on! The sheaths not so great, so I built my own, and added to the survival supplies in the handle. The edge held out fairly well, resharpened on a block and leather strap, pretty sharp again! I will be doing more business with budk .{don't knock UM till UV tried UM!}

Sheath not so much, but the knife is light and pretty sturdy. Would be a very good back up survival knife to keep in your pack, and this knife is so light you'll forget it's there. For the price, can't beat IT!

i bought this exact knife at a fishing and hunting expo 2 years back, and have to say that truly it was worth the 4 dollars...admittedly i originally bought it as a joke knife that i could bang up and not care about, but found it to actually have some use. the serrated back is great for getting through rope or wood, though they may not be the largest teeth on a blade out there... and the edge and tip have held up after plenty of wear and tear. The compass is fully functional and I know first hand that the matches work. The downfalls I found were the plastic handle, and after one year it began to fall apart. So as a knife, I give this 2 stars, but as a 4 dollar knife, I give it 4.

Highly recommended knife for something to have on you when camping. not to big to take up room, cuts well and has matches and fishing line in the handle. the handle is plastic but for obvious reasons when you get the knife. 9/10

Good knife, sharpens well. The only flaw i had was the handle. Not the best material and its a tad small, but for 4 bucks its well worth it. If your interested in a good knife for cheap though, i'd go look at the Full Tang Tanto Knife. Amazing blade right there.

i recently bought it to supplement my kayaking survival kit. smaller and not what i hope for...originally...but it proved itself worthy. i removed the matches and hook from the handle (it was a supplement & this wasn't my first rodeo) and put in 4 cigarettes. those smokes stayed dry- can't say as much for the ones in my 10 year old cig case. cut hot dog sticks and firewood easily & kept very sharp edge- saw back actually worked better than my wife's $100+ knife. made an excellent fish spear... no fish, but went through cans @ ten feet. even cut a golf ball in half. excellent for size and $4. may buy more.

The handle looks bigger in the picture. That's the only complaint i have about this knife. I like the blade but the handle is very small. The handle being plastic doesn't bother me its just how short it is. But you get what you pay for and it is worth the 4 bucks

It's great for $5. It's sharp out of the box and comes with basic supplies. My only 2 gripes are that the serration isn't even sharp and I wish the handle was a tad bit longer. But you can't go wrong for the price of overpriced coffee

Its a great knife for $5 you really cant complain about it because its $5 you shouldn't expect much from $5 but over all i like it and the only back part i hate about it is its not full tang but still good for the value

Got this knife cause of the price, and I dont expect to get doing anything super heavy with it. I am pleased with this knife, and was suprised at the , needle and thread, fishing line, ect inside the handle. Would buy again. And super fast shipping. I ordered from 2 diffent web sites on the same day, the other has not even shipped out yet.

This knife isn't too great. It comes toooooo dull. The saw on the back is alright, and is deffinately sharper than the blade. The handle is pretty small. It barely fit in my hand. The survival pack was decent quality. The handle proves waterproof. In summary, I'm disappointed but for the price, it doesn't matter.

I also got this knife mainly because it was $5. Sad to say it MIGHT be worth $3. I'll give it 3 stars for the price. It is cheap and its even difficult to get the end cap back on when you take it off. As mentioned before MAYBE a good knife for a younger person.

Not a high quality knife. Very small handle. Blade feels solid, but loose in the handle. OK knife for under 4 bucks.

I bought 2 of these knives and they are good for $4 but not much more than that. The handle is a little too small and feels like it will easily break. Upon inspecting the matches and fishing hooks, I discovered that the hooks were stamped but had no hole for threading the line through. If you are looking for something cheap then go ahead and buy but all around its not a very good knife.

The Handle is just too small for me, this would be good first survival knife for a boy or maybe to keep in your vehicle since its small. The compass is accurate however just like all survival kits I replace the matches with strike anywhere matches and add a couple more hooks. The price definitely adds another star.

i found this extremely light which i didn't like because you could not use it to cut small limbs or saplings.the blade held up well but the butt cap snapped and the sheath clip broke.

I'm not extremely satisfied, at the price its worth the buy, the plastic handle is very small, and seems weak, the blade wobbles a lot, there's a decent compass in the back some matches and a striking strip, fishing line and hook, but again at the price its a nice little knife to own.

When I used the knife getting wood chop off a few branches and the blade got loose. But it is good price of a knife that's why I give it 3 star rate BUT I HATE THE PLASTIC HANDLE!

It's not a great knife, but what do you expect for $5? This Is just cheap Chinese stainless thin steel but I could see using it as a backup knife or a knife to keep in a hunting shack or somewhere where you don't care if you lose it

It's exactly what description says, but it should be described as ladies or youth knife. Quality seems decent, but can't really test it, hilt too small for even my undersized hands

Out of the box, the blade was plenty sharp to slice right through a double-walled cardboard box. I was happy to find matches, a hook and line in the hollow handle. However the handle is essentially "zero tang" and made of very light plastic, do not expect to hold up to serious use. One of mine was cracked at the end where the compass cap screws in, so I wrapped the handle in black tape. I would recommend a pair of these next time BUDK has a two-for-one-plus-free-shipping deal. You get what you pay for!

I say this knife is great, but only for certain things. I say that for the price this is a great knife for kids 8-13. To learn with and train with and learn aspects of the importance of a survival knife. As far as for adults, nah, no thanks, I'll pass. Would never trust my life to such a knife. Nope. Great call for my nephew and godkids when the time comes though.

I bought this knife a few weeks ago, mostly because it was only 5 bucks. I was gonna use it on a camping trip with my girlfriend the weekend after it came in. It got here and Tuesday, on wendsday I used it once to cut some hay twine, I had to saw at it but it finally went through, VERY BAD EDGE. later that day I used it to pry open the door of a cheap desk and it bent. Needless to say, by Friday, I took my girlfriend camping with me, the knife I took? My old ka-bar. the dull bladed bud-k knife sat by my bed at home, safe from having to work. This Ain't a knife, it's a toy. Something i'dbuy for my kids 1st blade.

When I saw it was $5.00, I knew it would be cheap, but I thought it would be a good starter knife for my 12 yr old. I was 1/2 right. It's a good starter but maybe for a kid a little younger. It's smaller than I thought it would be (the photographer earned his money that day) and VERY light. So light that when I was unwrapping it, I was wondering if the blade was plastic, too. But, it was only five bucks and I ordered it on Penny Shipping day, so I guess I can't complain. I said I'd recommend it only if you're looking to get it for a kid to carry around camp and learn to handle a knife, Anyone looking to do any sort of bushcrafting should get a different knife.

About what you should expect for a knife made in Red China. Blade seems adequate. The handle and sheath are flimsy junk. This item is OK for simple in-the-woods camping (boy Scouts, casual backpackers, etc). Not recommended for anything more robust than that. For five bucks I'll keep it. Not a penny more.

It was smaller then I expected. And mine didn't have a compass, but the blade is strong so its alright I guess.

I did the BOGO for $5 and still feel I overpaid for it. Super cheap plastic handle. I will not survive any impact or pressure. Bought it for my bug-out bag, but I wouldn't trust it in any kind of emergency. Blade is solid and super sharp though. A shame the handle is so flimsy. Honestly, Save your money. There are way better items to spend your money on.

This may be the worst knife I have ever seen. The blade is so thin, the handle is cheap plastic, it is very small, and the blade is not firmly attached. Pay more and get something better. This is an absolute piece of junk. I threw it into the trash when I got it.

What an awful knife. I was not expecting much for $5, but I got it as a BOGO deal, so I figured I'd try it. I also figured the handle would be metal! It is the worst plastic ever. I wouldn't use this for virtually anything, but I would sharpen it, add sand to the handle, superglue the handle on then use it. Good luck with this one.. I hope BUD-K removes it from the market.

I have bought many knives from budk and been happy with them. I got this on a $4.99 BOGO/free shipping deal, and I guess for roughly 2.50 it ain't all that bad, but it really ain't all that good either. It's very lightweight, the blade is flimsy, and the handle is a joke.I wiggled the blade to see if it was as poorly attached as it looked, and the handle cracked. Just not up to Budk's usual standards. Spend a few extra bucks and get something better.

I am a repeat customer of BUDK so this isn't a random bashing. This knife is so cheap that it could break and hurt the user. I have contacted BUDK to take this knife off their inventory. I bought this knife to keep in a hiking pack I keep in my truck. The hollowed handle is made of such cheap plastic you can squeeze the sides in. The compass does not float or turn and the sheath does not have enough quality material to keep you from cutting through it when putting away the knife. I've seen reviews that say this is a good childs starter knife. DO NOT GIVE THIS KNIFE TO A CHILD! THEY WILL GET HURT WHEN THE HANDLE BREAKS OFF! Spend the extra $5 and get the full stainless survival knife.

This knife was a weak knife the handle broke on me while I was using it so very weak knife. You spend more money for a better knife it would be worth it.

This knife was truly disappointing to me, when I opened the box I was shocked at how light the knife was, it's like a plastic toy. It feels like I could snap this knife in half with barely any effort. I suggest you spend a few more dollars and get a real knife, BudK has plenty of great knives to choose from! Don't wast your money on this wanna be survival knife.
