My Dinner Knife
Worst thing about this machete is the price increase. Looks great, Great weight, well made, useful storage area and the sheath is heavy duty nylon. Holds up well with use and takes a nice edge.

Great blade!
I've been waiting for this knife/machete for a long while. I haven't found another knife like this (for that price) anywhere...and I've been looking. Hope others feel the same way as I do.

Great Knife/Machete
Great machete for the price... Blade is heavy duty and would stand up well for removing brush.. A great buy!!!!!

Strong Bodied
Hefty and good solid cutter. Handle was a little loose but being steel, it twisted up nice and tight. Compass was the first one that Actually worked. Could use some sharpening, and I will...put a razors edge on it. Thanks.

worth the money
good machete for the price, looks good and the compass is a nice touch. id bring this camping and also use as a survival tool as the handle is hollow so you can store matches, fishing line, hooks, whatever you like. thanks budk!

Pretty Good
Feels pretty Solid, not exactly as pictured, but feels like a decent hunk of steel. Its just for beating around the woods so the stock sharpness is fair to good. For $7 you cant really go wrong. There was a slight nick on the handle that was easily fixed with a drop of glue. The downside is the sawback is useless.

Very cool machete.
A surprisingly nice survival machete. Decent quality with an exceptionally nice sheath. Well worth the cost. If you want to spend a hundred+ dollars for a better knife, then by all means do it. But for the price it's a decent disposable chopper.

it's ok
Nice blade, really. I would thought a blade this robust would be full tang. I'm disappointed the handle is bolted on considering the amount of vibration it should be able to endure being a machete. I'm probably going to weld steel on in it's place. Right now it's good for hacking up brush and briar for concealment and other light duty tasks. It's a decent piece, especially for the price.

Ok, but buy the War Hunter instead
I am conducting an experiment for the purposes of my online survival show and for this particular survey I ordered 15 knives and machetes from BudK, ALL of them PRICED $9.99 or LESS then compared upon delivery to see what I got for the money. This is ONE of the results - look for my other reviews for more info as some of the items were GREAT and some were not so great -- Here are the results for this item: This is an ok tool for the price, decent sharp blade etc., but the handle is the problem the way it is fastened with the stud and acorn nut. We use machetes for their actual intended purpose on heavy blackberry vines, etc and this thing would probably come apart in minutes. it is a decent deal, but for two dollars more you could get the War Hunter tool which is a superb deal for a great machete with a great handle. By itself this might be an ok deal for cheap, but BudK has much better stuff at comparable prices -- I do NOT recommend this item, although it is probably worth the price.

Not Good
Me and my brother both have one and the first time we used it the handle broke the only way to fix it is to weld it together.

Worthless
I bought this thinking it was a good deal. The blade is attached by a single bolt and nut to the hilt. I took it out of its nylon sheath and it came loose. After a little wiggling the nut came off the bolt and now I have a worthless piece of sharpened metal that I can't even attach to anything. Not worth any price.

Waste of money
Bought this just to try it out. Cut and chopped pretty well... then the handle broke off, and now I have a worthless piece of sharp-ish metal laying around my house... Make it worse they took down my review the first time I posted it.

Blade Not Fixed
I bought this machete and it was nice for the first couple of weeks, however when i actually started using it the blade lost its strength, it would move sideways until eventually it fell off, and this was only after cutting a small branch of a tree whil i tried to clear a tennis court. i would not recommend this for anyone no matter how cheap it is or how nice it looks, it would be better to invest on a nice bowie knife, the last longer, look better, and can do much more than this machete.
