Product Description
Cold Steel's Katana Machete offers a 19" long blade with a modified Tanto style point. Heat treated to a tough spring temper and a black, baked-on anti-rust finish, it comes with a good utility edge that can easily be fully sharpened. To facilitate one or two-handed use, Cold Steel has paired the blade with a long handle, complete with a sturdy cross guard. Injection molded over the blade's tang, and further secured by two thick bolts, it shrugs off hard knocks and defies the elements. 35 1/2" overall. Cold Steel, 97THK
No complaints at all I'm of decent 6ft frame and this is easy to wield. A lot of people didnt like the handle length but that's how I prefer mine so idk depends on preference. No complaints, cuts through just about everything but ice (don't try that I had to grab a sledgehammer to bend it back) which was a testament to the blade given how difficult that was. This and the extended Kukri amaze me both capable of felling small trees and splitting cinder block slabs. Cold Steel delivers (:

Fantastic sword. Extremely comfortable, very sharp, great weight and balanced. But if you normally use a traditional katana the won't exactly fit what you are used to.

I purchased this unique blade, because I didn't want to mess up my real katana, while chopping up things in the backyard. This thing is awesome and very well made. It will destroy pretty much anything in it's path and keep going. I don't really consider it a katana or a machete... but it IS a sword, and a really great one for the price. If you want a backyard workhorse, this is your sword.

One of the best buys I will ever make, besides the blade being much shorter than expected and looked weird compared to the overly long handle it is FANTASTIC.

It will stab, hack, chop and slice basically anything up to firewood! The blade itself is THICK and immediately you can tell how well it was made as well as the quality of the steel;I must say I treated it quite roughly even threw it into my fire place but the sword remained exactly as it is!

Fun stuff. Came sort of jagged sharp but it didn't take long to smooth that out and give it a sweet edge. I'd recommend this, great price for a fun throw around machete.

the blade came with a fine edge. i liked how it felt when i slashed into brush and sticks. i've had it for a few months now and i think its the best machete that you can get for anywhere near the price. it did bend a little however, but thats only after a tree fell on it (a tree it cut down). GREAT BUY, im already getting another

This thing's a monster! It's got an awesome balance to it and is wonderful for hacking through just about anything. The blade came rather jagged, but I actually ended up preferring it as such. It gives it a much rougher, saw-like feel. Definitely an excellent purchase for the price!

ordered this sword on tues got it on thurs. great shipping time. nice look although more for utility than show. probly gonna wrap some 550 cord around the handle though, sweaty hands can slip easily. would be great for close combat, nice reach but i can also choke-up a lil if i dont have the swinging room. will be shopping hear again - semper fidelis

I beat the hell out of this thing: I cleared a 1/2 mile path in dense forest with trees/branches up to 2" - 2.5" diameter. It's still mostly sharp, 4 small knicks in the blade but amazing considering the punishment I put it through, still able to cut through branches. The handle is long and great for strong swings, even if you cant get through the target first hit, it can act like an axe almost. Definitely worth the purchase: very sturdy, sharp, practical.

One complaint, although it isnt with this product directly, the sheath is HORRIBLE and is purchased seperately. This machete itself comes with a cardboard cover, but you would be better off making your own plastic/cloth sheath.

Can't add much the reviews already here, to sufficiently emphasize what a great machete this is. It is tough, comes sharp, (but if you're like me you'll be sitting down and sharpening it some more anyway,) and has all the power you'd expect to find in an average katana sword. and with all the simple practicality of a machete.

The design is nearly perfect, with one (very) minor flaw which i am currently correcting on my model: the handle may get a tad slippery in some especially sweaty hands (and the slightest feeling of that makes me uncomfortable.) I am fixing this by carving crosshatching slits into the polypropylene to make the handle more... rough feeling.

Amazed by the size of the blade. Cut three two by fours in 1 swing. Crazy cutting power. My only problem with it is after I used it for a while the hard plastic handle kinda made my hands hurt, but some bat tap solved that problem. 5/5

Seeing the $24 price tag made me question the quality of this machete, since most Cold Steel items are much higher priced, but I was pleasantly surprised. This thing is very light, but came out of the box razor sharp. Due to it's light weight you have to put a good bit of muscle into the swing, but it's not difficult to do thanks to the long handle. I've used it for hours outside, cutting off tree limbs, and it's still holding up great.

This is pretty neat and I suggest on adding this to your collection if you are into usable weapons or want at least one you can abuse daily.

Like most said this isn't a Katana due to the blades shape and how long the handle is. I don't care if the handle is extra large and the same size as the blade itself. I was hoping for it to be close to a pole arm but it isn't. It is more like a sword than anything else.

It is strong carbon steel that won't let you down. It isn't skinny like most blades and comes by as sharp as it needs to be. I will not suggest to sharpen this because most hand sharpeners don't match up the angle of the blade. Mine didn't came bent but the blade it break threw the cardboard a bit. I tried it on a box and love how easy it went though it.

Reason I am giving it a four instead a five is because of two things. One it isn't as large as I would have hoped and the other is that Cold Steel had to put a sticker on the blade itself.
