Product Description
Used extensively by the U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force, the Air Force 499 Survival Knife is the standard against which other survival knives are measured.
I have many quality knives, and use them all for different purposes. But I was not satisfied with what I had for EDC and general purpose use on a daily basis...until this Ontario USAF Survival Knife arrived today. It is strong, has a good heft to it, looks rugged, and solid, and best of all, it is a perfect size for carrying on a belt. Slightly smaller than a standard KaBar, and equal in size to the KaBar 3/4 (a knife I also like) but with a much stronger build, thicker steel, and feel to it. I am very pleased with this knife, and it looks like it will take a beating and still be ready for more. The sheath is well made, and has a metal reinforced end piece, something I was not expecting to see, but quite happy with it. Looks like I can take most of my other knives and place them in my safe, relegating them to collector's eye-candy, while I hit the trails with this Ontario USAF Survival knife. Will be purchasing another.

First Quality Survival Knife
Very well made. Not some cheap knock off. Can be used to dig holes and pound stakes into the ground with the butt end. Comes razor sharp and can easily be returned that way after the toughest use like digging. Every bit the quality of the Kbar knife my dad was issued flying in the Navy in WWII.

Definitely 5 stars for this knife. My dad managed to get one for free while he was in the Navy. They had extras and handed them out. If you sharpen the blade, though, you will lose the finish where you rub the stone against the metal. Doesn't look bad two-tone, though. Be careful with the sharpening stone. It's pretty thin so it will break if you drop it(like I did). Overall, a great knife, fun to own, it'll last you forever!

GET THIS KNIFE!!!
I just got my knife a couple weeks ago and WOW this knife is beautiful very well crafted, strong, and study. I've put it under 15 stress test and this knife still holds true! I was worried when I first got it because it felt dull and would not fit the sheath right, but 10 strokes on the stone it came with and I could actually shave with it, yes I did try it, also I've worked with the sheath and its like a glove now amazing. All in all an amazing buy definitely worth the money I'll be buying another one soon!
