Lightweight aluminum handle with stainless hex screws, rubber inserts, and hard finish
Includes impact-resistant sheath with adjustable nylon strap
The Pathfinder Tactical knife & sheath set from United Cutlery is sure to help you find your way down any path. This fixed blade knife is constructed with an 8" 420 J2 stainless steel blade and a lightweight aluminum handle with black stainless steel hex screws, rubber inserts, and a hard coat finish.
This is a great knife, heavy duty and fits your hand! The compass is first rate, this is a real value and bargain! The only drawback, is the molded holster takes a little getting used to in taking out and inserting the knife. But, would not hesitate to recommend this to family and friends!

Sweet
This Pathfinder Tactical Knife and sheath was surprisingly substantial. The blade was a lot thicker than expected and a pleasant surprise. I like the sheath that came with it. The only issue is the knife fits in the sheath very tight. It took a little effort to draw the knife out. But on the plus side you will not need to worry about the knife falling out. I highly recommend this knife. Great value!

This knife is BAD A$$
The picture on this page does not do justice to this knife. I ordered two for our survival packs and just received them yesterday. I was pleasantly surprised when I opened the box and noticed the quality of this knife! The blade is about 1/4" thick and full tang. The handle is machined aluminum with a durable powder coat finish, and attached to the blade with hex screws. The knife is fairly sharp out of the box and became razor sharp with little effort. The blade appears to be anodized, and has a nice flat finish that looks similar to Damascus Steel. The knife is hefty--but not TOO heavy, and works well for cutting brush and small trees for shelters or whatever. It also works well for splitting kindling or any other small chopping job, as well as slicing and whatever else you need. Well balanced, I believe it would work well for defense, as it spins in my hand to change grip almost effortlessly. I really like this knife and recommend it highly. Seems to me if this knife was manufactured by another brand that commands higher prices, it would easily cost two or three times the price. Thankfully United Cutlery charges a fair price for high quality gear!

Excellent
I have had this knife for over a year and it is my favorite go-to knife when I need my best. It needed a little sharpening as expected but I got it serious sharp and it's held that sharpness since. Sturdy, nice sheath with survival cordage. I've had some junk knives, this is definitely not one of them.

Incredible buy
One of the best buys for 19 bucks I have made yet. Later, I bought several for friends. They were equally impressed. I would recommend this value to anyone.

JUST WOW!
Picture doesn't cut it! When I got the knife out the box "wow" was all I could say for 5 minutes!!!! HEAVY, THICK blade 95+% full tang. >love the style blade and angle of the 3 point tanto. Plastic handle was a lil disappointing but didn't affect the overall awesomeness of the knife. Sheath is nice! Great design and fit. And love the locking mechanism for the blade. Not velcro, or button. But a tension latch is best I can describe. United Cutlery is among my favorite companies. Never had any problems with their blades or prices. Love you guys! And thank you BudK! P.S. for those who complain about knives being dull: If you can't sharpen a knife, then you need to find another hobby! This is not for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best find ever!
I have been collecting knives for nearly 20 years and when I ordered this knife, I wasn't sure what I was going to get. When I opened the box, my jaw hit the floor! The weight alone is substantial and is easily manageable in any situation. It's definitely big and tough enough to take down small trees without much effort and will stick a hog for an instant kill. The only problem I found with this is the sheath.. while not a "problem" really, more an inconvenience.. it takes a bit of effort to pull the knife out! I love the fact that the knife slides in smoothly and locks into place without having a button snap or velcro to content with.. but removing it smoothly will take some practice and you may need to shave off some of the plastic as it can be a bit sharp around the edges. Really the only other thing that I would say is a negative is the belt loop on the sheath.. it's pretty flimsy to say the least and I'd prefer the whole sheath to be of the same plastic material, one solid unit. The compass.. meh.. it's a cheapo compass that won't hold it's accuracy because of the air bubbles in it, but is ok for short distances. A proper and accurate compass should have no air pockets of any type inside the bezel. Overall.. I love it and I'm buying another one for my round trip trek on the Appalachian Trail in 2015! Good Solid Knife
I had one of these years ago..bought it from Bud K..but at that time it was made by 'Colt'..same knife..but no compass offered. I sold it after a while and decided to buy this one a few years later. Its a good buy..strong, well made, sharp. The sheath works well for me..not sure what the other reviewers find wrong with it. For the money and if you buy with free or penny shipping you cant beat it..buy it.

Great Knife!
This is a really well made knife. Sharp out of the box, rugged, thick blade with an imposing tanto slant. Perfect for camping, survival, self-defense. Excellent sheath, very sturdy. The compass is a nice addition as well. Best Buy for the price, Thanks BudK! Gunny Seattle

Awesome Blade
For the price this is a really good knife! Looks awesome, feels great in your hand and the 1/4" full tang blade is very strong. My sheath works great with the knife, although the compass does not work well at all, but I was buying the knife not the compass.

Favorite buy yet
This thing is a beast comes sharp, but I will touch it up. Heavy with a great feel to it. Add to cart is the best advice I can give on this. Thank you United/Budk.

Pleasantly supprised contd
Not my first idea of a type of knife set up I would like, but for the price I had to check it out. I was pleasantly supprised at the weight and ballance of this knife coming out of the sheath. It was reasonably sharp, and with a couple of passes with the sharpening stones it was sharp as I would ever need it to be. Then it went out doors to begin it's abuse. It is an affordable cutting, chopping, and prying tool. I cannot wait for an opportunity to get it out in the woods and see how it holds up. Especially once I put a good lanyard on it.

awesome knife
This knife is great! Its big, thick, and can take a punishment. For the price you pay for this knife, you are stupid to pass it up. I own a lot of knive that I've paid well over $100.00! This knife was $24.00 maybe $25.00 and its just as good!! no lie.....

Great Knife
it was fairly heavier than i had imagined, but once you play with it a little the weight fits the blade very well. came sharp and hold the edge very well. this is an amazing blade when it comes down to it, perfect for out in the wilderness and handy with the weight in the cold weather so you dont need to do too much work using it. the only thing i did not like was the belt hoop on the top of the sheath; mine came right off the first time the handle snagged on a branch while getting up; not a tough fix, but it would have been nicer not to have had to deal with that.

Steel
No way that this blade is made out of 420 j2 steel it has incredible hardness holds an edge like a samurai sword. I can not possibly see any reason to buy another Combat knife.

Combat Ready!
I just got this knife in today and was a little worried from the reviews I saw about the knife not being sharp out of the box. Well United/BudK must have heard....this monster came hair shaving sharp! The design is nearly flawless! True, the tip is thicker but that contributes to its true functionality as a "Combat Ready" knife and you will not be breaking this blade if used as intended. Furthermore, this blade has no glint besides the sharpened edge giving it a stealth advantage. Although the sheath could use some work it is functional and houses the blade securely. 10 Stars to United! This blade is a gem!

whoa.
this is an epic Tanto! extremely thick blade, almost a 1/4 of an inch! sheath retention is great, buy a sharpener also tho it is extremely dull but they do that so you can put your own edge on it. the compass works, but isn't a strong point. for a combat tanto under 35 dollars? I couldn't ask for more :)

Best Combat Knife I own
This knife is superb the blade is very strong and it comes with a nice edge. the compass works fine and the sheath is very strong. The knife locks in the sheath very securely so don't worry about it falling out. The only problem I have with this knife is that when you take it out of the sheath it rubs against the sheath and gets black marks. They come of very easily so don't think it will ruin this kife forever.

Now that's a Knife
More knife than I expected! Big, Tough, Solid. Great sheath. Although, way too much oil all in the sheath. Very poor edge from factory, but I can remedy that. Still just a great knife for camping and for the price I have not reservations playing with it. It's a keeper.

Great Value
This is a big bad blade with a great Tanto shape, nice handle, but a sub-par sheath. I replaced the crummy rivets holding the belt loop to the sheath, thus fixing the weak link in this set-up. For the price, you definitely get a great knife, just be prepared to spend some time sharpening and tweaking the sheath. Buy it, you know your have a car hood somewhere that needs to be perforated...ha ha

Second dullest knife I've ever got
Cool knife and set, but very dull. Not easy to get sharp. It would be one of my favorite knives if it was razor sharp like its supposed to be

Disappointed
Picture looked much better. First, it did not have a nice even finish. Blade was not sharp. Lastly, it did not fit into the sheath. It took a lot of wiggling to get it inside. Pulling it out was even a bigger challenge, because the release piece. You have to bend the hard plastic piece to the side to pull the blade out. It looked like a cheap imitation of tactical sheath, but did not operate like one.

Broken
I did a review when i first received the knife and it was great but after about 6 months the fabric that was connected to the sheath for the belt loop broke and the thigh sling broke at once knife is still good but will disintegrate.
