I bought this kubotan a while ago and I have to say that it is better than the traditional version (all cylindrical design) since it possess a tip (that is not pointy by the way which is excellent if you want a less lethal means that will produce pain compliance on the attacker without the imminent risk of life loss or permanent injury to the attacker) the user of this kubotan only have to apply some pressure into the nerve that you want to apply pressure to get results (way less pressure to get the same results than the traditional design, I will say barely 10% of force to the nerve versus 20% to 25% of force with the traditional design). If you want to do your grappling techniques with the body of the kubotan you still can do them with this design (the finer tip do not present an inconvenience for such applications) also if you want to do some techniques that require a cylindrical point like the traditional design, you still can, just use the section that is attached to your keyring. I have not been forced to use mine. That is a good thing. But having it is comforting. It is my key chain. Suggestion: put it on a quick detach link. You do not wish to try to use this with a big glob of keys flopping around. Amazing how much stronger your punch feels.
