Product Description
The SOG Reactor Multi-Tool has an innovative shape that fits firmly and securely in your hand and retaining the easy-opening characteristic was a main priority in the creation of this multi-tool. Utilizing SAT (SOG Assisted Technology), a quick push of the thumb stud propels the hardcased black coated stainless steel blade open and ready for action. It also features powerful Compound Leverage geared needle nose pliers, which doubles the grasping force of the jaws for a more powerful grip and to reduce stripped hardware. Housing a total of six components including the Compound Leverage geared pliers, the Reactor proves to be a great folding knife and multi-tool.
I purchased the reactor a month or so back. It's got some interesting features but some of those are not good for the functionality of this tool. It's metal is strong but thin. The double plier pivot points is suppose to give more strength for more gripping power but that thin metal grooves into your hands causing some pretty good pain. I've worked as a welder, carpenter, copper miner and so on. I don't have soft hands. I'm not made of steel but if this can bring pain to my hands it can hurt almost anyone. The safety switch for the knife is on the plier handle. When you grip the pliers you always release the safety to the knife. This is because it is released down hill so as you grip the pliers your hand naturally moves forward thus unlocking the knife. I can not use the pliers at all without releasing the knife safety. The screw driver tip being gripped between the top of the handles is interesting but limits it's use. Without a long tip you have a wide screw driver limiting the places it can be used. You can't reach into a hole that has a screw at the bottom or a screw between close items. The double pivot for the pliers won't allow the pliers to open very wide without the handles being almost to wide to use. Unless you use both hands or have a foot long hand. I hate giving a negative report especially to a company that's as good as SOG. They have good quality products I've used and been happy with for years. But this one just isn't up to their quality. They took a gamble that has some cool ideas but needs some work before it should have been brought to the public. I like SOG company and their products but I can't in good conscience recommend this tool. It's interesting but not very user friendly.
