Took a little longer for shipping than I had expected. In the end though very happy with the choice it looks great on our wall.

Totally happy with my purchase. It's a very nicely made one continuous piece of steel. The only reason I can think that the description says "Half-Tang" is maybe due to the choil (finger grooves) The list price of $21 is more than fair, $10 is a BudK bargain!!! Focus: This is a defense/display/cosplay sword, not a wood chopping bushcraft sword ( if there is such a thing). NOT designed for chopping, batoning, or throwing. This is made for thrusting/poking/piercing/skewering. Again, not wood, trees, rocks, or concrete. Go for soft squishy targets. Grips - Not a fan of rope wrapped grips on anything on my best days, but Cold Steel uses them too. Glue/Epoxy them or get the grip tape in the color of your choice. Sheath ( Scabbard) - Back off dissing the scabbard!!! Budget knives/swords are famous for crappy sheaths, this is not one of them. It's a nice scabbard. Not a great scabbard, but sword + scabbard -$10!!! I've paid close to $10 for a crap machete sheath with no machete included. So if you want a well made sword with a needle sharp tip either get this or be ready pay a lot more.

I currently own a whole closet of stuff from Budk. This sword remains one of my favorites (I managed to buy three of them when I mistakenly thought they were going out of production). The design is just amazing. I could go on about how great it is, but I'll let the five stars do that for me and tell you what's not so great. The cord wrap will come undone, but that is easy to fix. A few other comments: the little half circle cutout by the handle bothers me. probably weakens the blade significantly. Also, the sword is made out of stainless steel. Anything over 12 inches should not be made out of this (risk of shattering... don't hit it sideways against anything hard). The point is still wicked (I'm more careful with this one than I am with my katana), and it's a great sword to swing around or just keep on display. Highly recommend this if you're looking for a nice, cheap piece. Definitely worth double the price.

I bought this sword to construct my own survival spear and used the 6 foot white waxwood staff (Item #31 BK1188) as the shaft. I merely had to grind down the handle of the spear so it was straight and flush with the staff, split the shaft with a saw, tapered the blade end of the staff, drilled 4 holes through the staff & blade, inserted 4 steel pins, wrapped the blade end with paracord to keep the pins in place, put 4 coats of Varathane on the paracord to keep it from unraveling & to keep the pins in place and then painted the shaft with flat black paint. The project came out much, much better than expected and I think it is indestructible and well balanced. Note: Mount the blade on the thick end of the staff and then cut the staff to the desired length. My finished spear is 5' long plus the length of the blade.

I was suprised that as cheap as the price is at how solid this blade is! Even with the slot it's still a great blade love how sleek it is! Good all round feel for speed, a lil more weight would be nice, but it doesn't negate the 5 STAR value!

This is one of my favorite blades because it is lightweight, strong and sharp at the same time and this means a lot for free runners who run though grassy areas with vines

Sword and sheath are very nice. Many reviews are complaining about the sheath and grip. First, the price was great. At $12.99 it is a bargain. Sword is sharp and stable, but not too sharp. Swords are not meant to be. It is perfect for cutting down small trees and brush, and looks 'mean'. True, the grip is a little loose. That is an easy fix: Unwrap the cord, and re-wrap it tightly around the handle. As you pull it tight, you will have quite a bit of extra cord at the end. Cut it off and the extra piece is perfect for a lanyard, since the sword does not come with one, but has a hole for it. Then simply take a piece of electrical tape and 'seal' each end of the cord wrapping. Problem solved. As to complaints about the sheath, well, mine was perfectly fine, and seems sturdy enough, so I have no complaints here either. All in all a very nice piece, well worth the money. I think I'll order another.

Really sharp at first but then I mauled a basket and got it sort of dull. The grip isn't the best but it isn't anything some tape wouldn't fix. Overall great deal for $12!!

for all the nay sayers who would think price dictates quality. i was skeptical of this sword when i purchased it. i mainly got it simply for the claim of having it in my collection. this sword is no joke. when it arrived at my house i was astonished at the quality of the steel. the keen edge. if your a first time buyer of swords, get this. you will not regret it.

trying to make this as detailed as possible...The sword is actually quite flexible despite being stainless steel, it also has a great edge right out of the box. Personally i think the balance is great. Finally, the cord wrap falls right off. otherwise 10 out of 5

Solidly built sword. Even after several fights with my cousins 10 pound, double handed full tang broadsword, (of which i won many) it did not show any signs of bending. My main complaint is that the nylon wrapped handle unwound very quickly. i just replaced it with electrical tape. Also, it does not hold a edge for long. It didn't come sharp, which is to be expected with most edge weapons, but it was disappointing. It was not even sharp enough to cut the cardboard box it came in. overall, it is a good product. thanks, Budk!

good little blade, not really for cutting or slashing though otherwise my only problem with it is the rope handle falling off.

This sword is a nice addition to my "go bag" small enough to carry on the bag and functional enough for a temporary defense if needed. I will adjust the point however. Way to easy to get caught on the scabbard or to pierce objects you don't want pierced. Overall a good product for the price.

Great stabbing/thrusting sword. If that it what you are looking for this in a sword, at this price, this one can't be beat. If you want more of a cutting/slashing sword I think the more scimitar shaped blades would be a better choice. I do think the false edge should be sharpened.

This sword is absolutely fantastic, I love it its simple and has no unneeded additions to it. I was however disappointed as it came rather dull but it was not a problem. Great sword for the price.

This is a wonderful sword. I just got mines today, and the only thing I didn't like was the string coming undone, and the blade being a little dull. This sword has a nice point, and I recommend this blade to anyone's collection.

An interesting pig-sticker for 13 bucks. The tip is needle thin and is probably fairly easy to bend or break. It feels more balanced if I hold it with my forefinger though the groove in front of the handle. The wrapped handle is okay, but I think I can fashion something a little nicer.

This is an awesome sword for a great price! It's sleek and lightweight, but what appealed to me most is how it's two toned. The sword, however, arrived with some dried oil or something on it(which is easily cleanable) and the grip is a little thin for me, but I love it nonetheless. I recommend this sword a lot!

it was really sharp when i got it, but when i used it the first time i knew it was too thin to bend and it did, and the chord around the handle came off, but its light and good for the price.

Over all its a pretty cool sword but theres quite a few things wrong with it. First off the nylon chord wrapped around the tang is terrible i mean I had the sword not two hours before it had already come loose and and another thing i know its a short sword but this thing just very small to me, its just really thin but anyway its a pretty good sword for an amazing price.

I got this as an impulse buy. is thinner then I hoped point is ground so thin would bend if thrust into anything more the water melon.. will be a decent machete in wet center tropical vegetation environment. . the boxed scabbard is stupid for a knife this pointed. worth having lashed to a bug out pack pretty sharp a l light hiking companion if they split a 1/2 inch dowel and epoxy'd that on under the cord wrap the grip would be worth having

I've read the reviews, and everyone says that it's a great blade. It looks really mean, and seemed like it would be a steal at 12.99.. When it came in, I took it out of the box and the tip was bent like a "U". But, I got it pretty straight with some pliers. I then honed and sharpened the blade for several hours, until it was razor sharp. When I got up this morning I went to the woods behind my house, swung once at a kudzu vine, and the handle snapped and the blade hit the ground. Same vine vs butter knife. Butter knife cut through one swing. I don't know if I got a defective one but,it was a huge disappointment. The throwing stars, kunai, and ninja tech tanto are amazing though.
