Just received my Shadow Warrior sword. Very simple pack (cardboard box), but well protected. Upon initial inspection, I noticed the tsuka (handle) was a little longer than usual, but it does add to the beauty of the sword.

Aesthetics: (5 of 5) The sword is definitely assembled to be a dispay centerpiece. The handle, as mentioned, a little longer than usual, but allows for good handling adjustment. The fau leather handle wrap is tricky. The materials is not vynil and seems to be a little hygroscopic. Although advantageous in allowing good grip, it is fragile and project that with heavy handling it will become unraveled and extremely dirty. Nice sturdy saya. The copper fittings are a very nice touch and compliments the plum color accents very well.

Blade: (4 of 5) The blade is sharp, however, not as sharp as I would expect for a cutting sword. Enough to make it functional. However, if the sword is to be used as a display piece, I wouldn't recommend to use for cutting hard materials, as restoring it would depreciate it's aestetic state. The blade has an etched warrior and spear in each side, which by the consistency of the depth and designe, is a dead giveaway to being either laser or machine etched. However, it does not diminish its look. The BoHi is partial and attractive. Overall, a good blade for occassional tameshigiri on soft targets, but would keep it as a display item. Would not recommend for heavy or hard material cutting.

Performance: N/A) I did not test the sword on a soft target. However, it will be used as a display piece. Will provide additional feedback when tested with tameshigiri mats.

Overall, a very beautiful piece. If intended as a practical piece, I believe it is not bound to last long. For the intended use, I'm satisfied with the sword.

This is only the second Katana I've purchased. My first one was the 40 dollar orchid sword and I loved it so much I decided to spend a little more money. I can definately tell the difference. This one is not as flashy, but the balance and blade are wonderful. Both my swords weigh the same, yet this one feels lighter and easier to swing. All in the balance and I'm very satisfied. It is very sharp as well.....
