Product Description
Training with bokken swords can only get you so far, but to truly train like the best, you must practice with the same blade as you would in battle. This unsharpened iaito is the perfect practice katana. It features a 1045 carbon steel blade that is not sharpened, but offers the same weight and control as a battle-ready katana. It is full-tang and double bamboo pegged to the hardwood handle. A starburst shaped tsuba that was popularized in the infamous Last Samurai movie completes this perfect practice sword.
This was money well spent the swords blade is thick and it also has a big which is very nice it has a nice full tang and if u want to sharpen it there will be no problem

I got this as a gift a little over a year ago for my birthday. I have been using it during training and just recently used it during competition. I LOVE this sword. I've taken it apart for cleaning multiple times and it's still a solid piece. As I am a smaller lady, the weight can be a bit much after a couple hours of training, but it's helping me build strong arms :) I HIGHLY recommend this for anyone seeking a solid practice sword!

This sword is exactly what it claims to be. It is a budget practice sword that is very traditional and reasonably high quality. Be very clear that this sword is HEAVY. It you want to practice fast swings with lots of "swoosh", then you may want the lighter aluminum iaito swords. This sword is great if you want to build strength and get used to the feel of a full katana without bo hi. The parts, fit, and finish of this sword are all just as stated and make it at the very budget low price range of what I would call a real sword. Yes, this sword could be sharpened and it is worth noting that the edge is "square" on this and not intentionally rounded off. It could still do damage in a strike as others said, but would not draw blood in a light touch to the edge like a fully sharpened katana can do.
This is a perfect first sword to own, or a great "beater" sword for practice. I would suspect that anything less expensive is pretty much junk. Five stars as a budget un-sharpened full-weight practice sword.

Seems to be a very solid and well made sword for training purposes. Fits perfectly in the saya and everything seems very tight and solid. Amazing for $49!

Long story short: Excellent Buy/Highly recommend it.

It's a well balanced, well handling, and high quality Training Sword. I even showed it to my instructor and he said it was a good training Iaito. My only problem with it is that blade came a little dirty, but it was easy enough to clean off.

i have purchased swords that were more expensive and they could not compare to this one. it is flexable, and doesnt warp under a bend test like one sword i own does. there is nothing bad about this at all. and if one does finds somthing bad about it, the price negates anything negative about this product

Definately the best sword I've bought from this site, this being my 5th order. It is extremely well made, and as good as any other musashi sword without the worry of cutting off a chunk of yourself while practicing Iaido.

It's been seven months since I received this sword and I am overall impressed by it. For 49.99 it is a steal for an Iaito of quality. If your into practicing and honing your skills in kendo and feel you are not worthy of owning the real deal yet then you will have no problem with this sword. I highly recommend it to anyone who is a practitioner. 5/5

It is solidly built and I’m confident that the 1045 steel blade will hold up to whatever use I may give it. I especially like the matt finish on the saya as it doesn’t show finger prints. The matt finish is ideal in this case.
The only real complaint is that I find the tsuka-ito not to be as tightly wrapped as it could be. I don’t like “China†stamped on the seppa and will turn it over on first disassembly. All other objections that I have are ones that I would expect on a sword costing at least half again the price of this one, and were expected.
I can not weigh the sword but if feels heavier than my 1060 Musashi Bamboo Warrior, which lightness surprised me. However, I find that sword fast and since I don’t do heavy cutting there is no problem and favor the speed that it has. The extra weight in the Iaito will be good for training and I prefer it that way. I say extra weight although it is more in line with what I would expect and would not call it heavy, as such. The POB of the Iaito is 5½â€, an inch more forward than the Bamboo Warrior.
I have two bokkens, but wanted a trainer that duplicated the feel of a live katana and this does that nicely. I am most pleased with my purchase and would do it again.

Ever feel like waiving you really sharp, nice Musashi sword around the living room like an idiot? Well than this is the sword for you.

Okay, so doing that is still a bad idea. After all, it is made of metal. However, if you're looking for a nice, full-tang sword that you can swing around without worrying about damaging things (too much) then this is absolutely worth looking into.

As a sword itself it's better than most cheap, easy-break imitation katanas out there. It feels like a sword, it carries like a sword, and everything besides the edge makes it a usuable piece. If you want to train to use the real thing without actually using the real thing, this is your best possible choice.

I got this sword about an hour ago. This is my first full-tang sword, and it's as solid as a rock. The blade doesn't wobble at all, and it has a good balance to it all. There are a few black specks on the blade (from the sheath probably), but they were easily removed. Aside from a few cosmetic problems (nothing so big you'd notice, really), it's an amazing sword. 5 stars.

This sword is amazing! The feel of it is simply indescribable. The tip is very sharp but the rest is completely dull. I am so glad I bought this and have high expectations for the future.

Excellent buy, very quick shipping. Nice balance and reasonably even polish. Has typical drawbacks of any production sword such as slightly misaligned habaki, slightly loose wrap but these issues do not seem to affect the handling. Perfect Iaito for begining students of Iaido (particularly those who prefer the 28" blade.) Just remember to keep it oiled or it will rust unlike its alluminum counterpart.
Edgar Chang Dec 05, 2009 (4 out of 5)
I just received my swords, and it is great.

I found one issue with it, though. The Habaki is scratched, a lot. Maybe it is something that cannot be avoided because of the saya, but it definitely does not look very cool. The scratches aren't light either.

The weight is awesome, and the product itself was good, except for the scratches.

I don't own this sword yet but I have to mention that I have noticed that this katana is basically an unsharpened non-sharpened version of the last samurai katana that this website sells, which there's nothing wrong with this possible fact. it's just it would be cooler if this practice katana would be of it's own design and not a copy of a katana that this website already sells. which I have to mention that the last samurai katana is a very beautiful blade.
