Product Description
This oversized odachi sword is a must-have for your samurai warrior sword collection. It features durable full-tang construction with a 47" blade that has been hand forged and sharpened just like ancient swords. The genuine ray skin handle is accented with decorative cord wrappings. Authentic embellishments like the copper-tone tsuba, menuki and pommel add even more style. A corresponding hardwood scabbard is included to store this odachi sword in authentic style.
Long review, skip it if you'd like.
I bought this one for my daughter's 10th birthday; she's been badgering me to teach her, because she is always wanting to practice laito with mine.
I didn't want to get the cheapest, but wasn't about to fly here to Japan to have one made like my father did for me, when she's fully grown for sure. Family history there. Dad paid $6,000+ way back in '86.
On to the Odachi.
First thing you'll HAVE to do is a proper cleaning, disassemble completely, clean everything!
Came fairly sharp. Testing on rolled mats, I was surprised. Still needed some fine honing, but not bad.
The weight was more forward from where I prefer. Added lead to the tuska to correct, easy fix if you know what you're doing.
Suitable flex in the blade. No bends after vigorously testing and an hour's worth of speed kata's. Again, I was surprised....pleasently.
True full tang! Harder to find on economy priced swords than you think.
Nothing flashy in this sword. Well made. Extremely happy with my purchase. BUDK has never let me down.
5 stars

Didn't expect it to come in for months, but someone must love me.
It came fast, it came as described, it put a huge smile on my face.
I love the way this site handles shipments, I couldn't complain if I tried. Double boxing, and sending everything out as soon as possible? Heck yes.
I haven't done much for testing the blades sharpness, strapped on time, sorry. The blade came with absolutely no knicks, etc, it looks amazing. The box it came in isn't the focus, but it still looks nice in my room.
The cleaning kit is all in Japanese, which would be a problem to anyone that doesn't have the internet.
Feels great, and is obviously a surprise when you pick it up as to how light it is.
Would recommend, any day.

Love this blade, i have always wanted an odachi and this is the one. The blade is very flexable, bends with a swing, but is very strong, it comes hand sharpens, which is rare, but sharpness is about 7-8 outta 10, not bad, but its not gonna take down a horse in one swing. If your looking for a real odachi, this one is as close as you canget

A very nice nodachi/odachi comes equipped with a good looking box and a katana maintenance kit, its hilt is only slightly longing than regular katanas making it quite easy to handle despite being 66 inch in length. Naturally, it is heavier than regular katanas. A good price for a good set of items. What more can I ask for?

This sword, although new, is steeped in the ancient history of the samurai. The blade is shape, scary as hell, and long. It looks more like a work of art than a sword stretching across my wall. Thank you guys (TS) for easy shopping and quick delivery.

The mere size of the sword alone commands respect. The extras are all nice, the box and kit and what not, but once you pull the sword, its almost as if a power consumes you. No it really doesn't, but something does. While one should expect this to be a bit heavier than your normal sized sword, its not a beast or anything, it is lighter than I thought it would be. It can be wielded in one hand however it might take some getting used to. When you go back to your normal sized sword, it just feels a bit different, like your hold a knife or something, lol. Also walking around with this is a cool thing as you have a personal space of like 5 feet. No wonder was a so good.
