As a birthday present I have to say that this takes the cake (sorry for the pun). This is not my first sword but it is the first one that has a clay tempered hamon line and it is beautiful. The balance is exceptional and the edge is a razorblade. I can not believe this sword was less than $100.00. Well worth the price and then some. I am very happy with this blade - Thank you Budk

I was impressed with this sword. Cut down 3 inch branches with no delamination whatsoever! A slight bend but was able to bend straight with ease. For the price its worth it, but if you want a beast youre gonna have to spend atleast $600 from a high quality forge.

I bought this sword with a little skepticism of how good could a real clay temperd $99 katana on promo sale for $69 be...!? Answer surprisingly awsome! I own a decent quality budget clay temperd Ronin RK series i loved that retailed for $130, and this sword is noticeable better. The fit and finish is great and looks awsome, nice real hamon line anf it cuts awsome! Straight out of the box I was able to slice a 1/2" strip off a milk jug after the top had been cut off already...! If youre looking for a super deal on a katana any musashi clay temperd 1060 line like this "mimoto musashi" or the "bamboo warrior" (it has same blade) and others with that blade there in the $99 to $109 range retail. Do urself a favor and buy one you will NOT be disappointed!!

My third order from this site was this sword. First off, I give it a 6/10. Much better than my previous 2 orders, much more sturdy and reliable. I'm just trying to figure out why my Japanese Musashi was made in China. Go figure that the 1 part of the sword that is loose and raddles is the one piece labeled "Made in China". Other than that, the sword is sturdy and I'm pleased with the value I got for such little financial investment. It came pretty sharp, but not as sharp as I was hoping. That's not a problem though because it's something I can fix myself here at home. I did 2 cutting tests as soon as I got it. Cut right through the bamboo thing and also two 1 gallon milk jugs lined up (cut through both, straight out of the box). This is a good sword for $99, but there are 2 or 3 others on this site that are the same price that may actually be better. The bamboo warrior model for example. I wish I would have gotten the red version of this one, but due to problems with shipping promotions and having to place the order over the phone, I had to get this model, the black one. Once again, 6/10. Maybe 6.5/10 They just don't make them like they use to. That's what happens when you buy a mass produced item. The best you can do is take care of it as best as you can, and be very careful to learn how to use it properly so it doesn't get badly damaged if we are sent back to the dark ages and you end up in a duel lol

For this price, just a beautiful sword. Very simple. Razor sharp, so user needs to beware. You really cannot beat the value at this price. I've see a lot less on more expensive swords.

Great sword and very beautiful. Came sharp and the hamon looks amazing. No cracks in the saya and the tsuka is well wrapped

I want to start off by saying, if buying a sword that you might want to use given an extreme circumstance (and I'll add you need some training to do so), you shouldn't go any lower than the $99 Musha/Musashi brand katanas. As far as functional katanas go, this is about as inexpensive as you want to buy imho. It's full tang, has a real hamon, is razor sharp, made from good steel. It is a weapon; no doubt about it. Second, the tsuba is up to you, but for me, I wanted something rounded and simple, and the Musashi tsuba is perfect. It isn't pretty. 99.99% of the people reading this will never need to use a katana (thankfully). It will be for show, so remember that when you get all excited about your new katana and want to see if it can cut a 2 liter soda bottle that never did anything to you. You'll want the blade to keep, long term, and mine came oiled and wrapped in plastic. After checking the blade, I left the oil on it. The blade is SOLID and heavy--no wobble in the handle. Even if it wasn't sharp, it would make a mean club. But it is very sharp. If the zombie apocalypse occurs (or someone unwanted comes in your house), you will be armed (of course swinging this beast indoors might not be so easy). It was significantly heavier than I expected--not so heavy that I couldn't use it one-handed, but definitely meant for 2. The practice blades I've used were roughly the same length, and I used them 1-handed, but they were much lighter. To use this one-handed will take some serious muscle. And it is beautiful, if anything shinier than I wanted, but absolutely no complaint. Like the blade, the saba is simple black. It will make a nice display. And if someone does come in the house, well... Hope for their sake they have long-term disability insurance at the very least. I don't need to cut a soda bottle to know what this could do.

The sword is beautiful, and definitely hand forged. I was able to tell by lining up the blade with the handle and there's a slight curvature to the blade in places the hammer hit it. I'm not too disappointed though it builds character. The blade came spotless, and vary sharp, and unlike my last $60 musashi Bushido Zetsurin NOT A HINT OF RUST! 8D 5/5

Arrived in Perfect condition, no flaws found, perfectly weighted, very sharp, haven't chopped anything yet, but it's look and feel is enough to make a review. It feels like it could easily cut through a person.

It's exactly as most of these reviewers have said. This is a blade with a much higher value than its price suggests. Shipping was rediculously fast; I got a shipping confirmation to my email within hours of my purchase. I will probably order another, maybe even two more of these with a big grin on my face.

The absolute best katana you can get for _$100. I have no complains. Stunning and beautiful while still practical and affordable. This sword is a steal! (No pun intended)

This arrived right on the day it was supposed to. Everything is nice quality and it shipped very very sharp. I really don't know why this sword is only 80$ because it's perfect. The only thing I see wrong is that the certificate that came with it reads my scabbard as a red finish while mine is black.

I got this sword two days after I ordered it. Awesome blade. I cut my self cleaning the blade right after I got it out of the box. I can tell me and this sword are going to get along nicely.

My first purchase from here...CURSE YOU!!! This sword is awesome; feels great, looks great. Hamon was attractive and not perfectly shaped waves, which means i like it better. Wrapping feels tight, and the Tsuba is well painted. Blade was nice and even with no warps or bends in it, it wasn't razor sharp but sharp enough. Blade came well oiled with no rust. The Saya has a slight imperfection like a slight run, however it doesn't detract from the overall looks of it. Fits well in Saya. Shipping was very fast, and securely boxed. This was a Christmas gift for my nephew and I have no doubt that he'll love it. I curse you because now i have to get one! This has no comparison to those "display" swords I have handled in the past, making me assume a quality Katana was beyond my price range. Not anymore...

Nothing you see on this site will do justice to these swords. ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!
The way they feel in your hand, thats when you know that this is the best product, in my opinion, that this site sells. I am in love.
From the time I ordered until I was holding them was less than 48 hours.

Every inch of this gorgeous blade screams authenticity. I've never had another sword that felt so light and natural in my hand, yet was so durable. I recommend this sword with highest marks, and for the price of $80, it's far superior to many swords just thirty dollars cheaper.

For the price, you will be hard pressed to find a katana of this quality. Everything is as advertised, except the sword wasn't "razor" sharp upon delivery. However, 10 minutes on a water stone took care of that.
The sword is light and quick in the hand, and there isn't any rattle, all the fittings are top notch and very tight.
The Hamon is prominent and really nicely done. All in all, I have nothing negative to say about this blade, it is well worth the price and if you are a collector of edged weapons like myself, this would make a superb addition to your collection.

As far as cutting ability, I have more expensive swords that don't cut as well as this Musashi. I just advise all of you that purchase this, or any other sword to keep safety in mind. Edged weapons such as this one easily have the capacity to kill or dismember a bystander should it slip out of your hand, or someone get too close, after all, swords were designed with one thing in mind, to kill.

This is an AMAZING sword! I love everything about it, except that it isn't as sharp a advertised, but otherwise, this is a wonderful sword! ESPECIALLY for the price! It was delivered a few days ago an I held it in my hands for the first time today--I was in heaven! It is perfect for me! Possibly one of the best feelings I've felt in y life so far! This thing is SOLID! No creaks, no clicks---Tight in the handle, NO wobble! It is prfect! REAL hamon real same----This sword came with a certificate of authenticity!!! A Musashi seal!
To sum this up---I AM IN AWE!!!

And he has a name :)

Very sharp, all high quality materials. This katana is everything they advertise it to be. Although, the blade will bend under some heavy duty cutting (like the 60 lbs watermelon I sliced up), but can be easily bent back straight as an arrow. Even after heavy abuse this katana is still solid as a rock. Would reccommend it to anyone for display and moderate cutting; as it is a beautiful weapon. Also, believe it or not the accusharp can bring the edge from bottle splitting sharp to easily halving hanging leaves.

For the money this has to be the best sword I have purchased. It is sharp enough to due some damage and appears exactly as pictured. Has good balance to it, and excellent overall feel. Good sword to start one's collection or to add to anyone's.

Very nice. Its a bit smaller and lighter than I thought. Blade came very sharp - easily cuts paper like nothing, from what I see in the other reviews I got lucky! My only problem with the sword was the "Made in China" engraved on one of the golden spacers around the guard. Could have been worse though, spacers can be replaced I'm just glad it wasn't engraved on the blade. This is my 13th sword.

Just received this blade today. This product promises to deliver a relatively basic design with incredible value, and it does this in spades. The blade and fittings come together well, the blade doesn't rattle in it's furniture like most cheaply made "swords" at this price. The saya feels as though it was made for this particular blade (no slipping from saya when inverted). The blade comes oiled and the hamon appearance might as well be a real hamon. The only point there is to really mention towards improving the blade is it's balance. But come on, a blade that hits the mark for everything else AND is only $85! Solid, nicely done.

I ordered this sword thinking that at this price point it would be about average, a couple cutting sessions, and that would be about it. WRONG!! This sword went through everything I put it through, and with little effort. Not only that, but there's no damage to the cutting edge, and with just a few swipes of a cloth, you'd have thought it came straight out of the box! Seriously, how are they charging that low a price for that quality of a katana? If this is the quality I get for under a hundred bucks, I can't wait to see what the elite katanas will bring! Very high quality, extremely affordable, this is one of the best katanas I own!

Amazing. This is my first real katana, if you will. It felt amazing to finally hold a real sword. The only problems i could tell of was that the swords hits the inside of the saya. But most definitely not a bad purchase.

it took me about a week to receive this sword living in Washington and all in all this is a pretty good sword. Everything is nice and tight. The only reason i didn't give it a 5/5 is because the scabbard seems to be a little light (probably because its made of wood) and the tsuba and butt piece look like they are made of plastic even though they are made out of metal and the blade did come sharpened but was not very sharp. Other than all of that this sword is pretty awesome!

I ordered 2 , 1 for myself and one as a gift for my brother and he loved it. I did alot of reading and this one seems like a good choice for the cost. Very sharp ! I cut my thumb pretty good within 2 minutes of having it out of the box while cleaning it . It is a nice practical sword , well made and worth the price ! Nothing was loose , passed paper test and I took it outside and cut some bamboo that was 4" thick like it was butter . I'm very impressed , looks like it will last a long time if taken care of. I would not hesitate to use this as a real weapon if I needed to.

THE BOX:
The packaging was very well done, though I can see how Musashi can charge so little for such a nice blade, cutting costs. Don't get me wrong, the packaging was safe and secure, but they didn't waste money on a fancy box, very smart I think.
THE FITTINGS:
The Menuki, Tsuba, Ito and other fittings were completely solid. The same is indeed real rayskin and offers an extra bit of grip. The Menuki appear to be gold-painted cast iron bits, but for $80, what do you expect? The Ito was EXTREMELY tight and tied very well, but it had a cheap shoe lacey feel to it. No big deal though. The Saya was very nice hardwood in a piano finish, nothing special.
THE BLADE:
The blade came very well oiled and very sharp. There was some debris from the Saya, but some Mineral oil and cleaning fixed that problem. It is obvious that this is where Musashi spent the most money. The blade is nice and straight, and it is obvious that it is handforged, since there are a few bumps. This is a good thing though. I had my doubts that the Hamon was real, thinking it was just wirebrushed quite well. A magnifying glass confirmed the the Hamon is infact real. Get that! A real hamon on an $80 Dollar blade.
CUTTING:
This blade cuts great, enough said. It is also very light, changing direction with ease. The Bo-hi also makes a nice "Whoosh" when swung properly.

4/5, this is an excellent blade for $80, challenging even some $250 dollar swords.

Beautiful katanas. The hamon is real not printed. Sword came oiled but I removed and re oiled. Very balanced. Couldn't believe such a great deal when I saw it. I ordered it with a what the hey attitude and scored with this one. I suggest Musashi swords to anyone.

Got this today, overall very nice. Small twist in the blade due to the heat treatment though is the only thing that made me knock a star off.

The sword cuts nicely, is well balanced and combat ready (if there's ever a Zombie Apocalypse) and the hamon is real. The saya is very nice, fits well and is very attractive.

Solid. Real hamon as advertised. It catches the light very nicely. The blade was hardly sharp enough to cut through its own box on arrival, and the last two inches of the blade were not sharpened at all. These things are easily fixed though, and not a huge issue for me. The edge is very hard, my sharpening steels mostly slide across the edge without effect. Only one of the steels I use regularly will hone this edge, and it takes more work than any other blade I have. It would not slice paper out of the box, but now it slices cleanly through paper and will shave hair. I haven't cut anything since the box, as it left pronounced scratches in the blade. The tip also may be a little weak, but I'm not sure. It's longer than my previous blade and I accidentally put the tip into the ceiling about 1/4" deep. It only hit plaster and paint, but the edge had been damaged where it penetrated. I was able to rework it with a steel, but it is much softer than the rest of the edge. Everything fits together nicely and there is no wiggle to the blade or fittings at all. The saya is very nice and the blade fits fairly well with only minor rattling if shaken. The blade is strong and springs back from a 30 degree bend without fail. All in all, a good buy for under $100.

My third order from this site was this sword. First off, I give it a 6/10. Much better than my previous 2 orders, much more sturdy and reliable. I'm just trying to figure out why my Japanese Musashi Katana was made in China. Go figure that the 1 part of the sword that is loose and raddles and clanks against the metal is the one piece labeled "Made in China". This is a good sword for $99, but there are 2 or 3 others on this site that are the same price but may actually be better. The bamboo warrior model for example. I wish I would have gotten the red version of this one, but due to problems with shipping promotions and having to place the order over the phone, I had to get this model, the black one. Once again, 6/10. Maybe 6.5/10 By the way, my sword is named "Shirakawa" and was forged by "Steward Lee" a few months before I even placed the order. They just don't make them like they use to. That's what happens when you buy a mass produced item. The only thing you can do is take care of it as best as you can, and be very careful to learn how to use it properly so it doesn't get badly damaged if we are sent back to the dark ages and you end up in a duel lol

This sword is for my son, he did all the research and picked it out. He has high expectations and is very excited. It will be his first "real" sword. It should arrive in two days from now. Will be making another review.
Three stars for now since I don't have it.
