Both blankets came individually wrapped in plastic, and smelling like a musty old basement. So I washed them in cold water. Both blankets came out having lost some of the design, one more than the other. They both still smelled bad. Round 2 in warm water. They both came out smelling much better, but one had lost most of its design. The other had lost it entirely. All in all they are pretty warm, and would make a pretty good blanket for camping, or to keep in your vehicle for emergencies. Are they worth it? For what comes out to $10 each I think so. Unless you are buying them for the logo on them, in which case, they are pretty much useless.
