Smith & Wesson
is one of the industry leaders in new and innovative pocket knife
designs. They also have an extensive line of assisted-open knives
. Their M.A.G.I.C. assisted-open mechanism is one of the fastest on the market.
The 2012 Black Ops III series
from Smith & Wesson is definitely an upgrade from the Black Ops II. The most obvious change is the handle upgrade. It is still constructed of impact resistant aluminum, but the new ergonomic design has the look and feel of a custom-made knife
. It is easy to grip, even while wearing gloves in tactical situations.
The 3 2/5" 4034 stainless steel blade is fluoropolymer coated to reduce glare and resist corrosion. It is razor-sharp straight out of the box and the aggressively serrated edge saws through even thick webbing with ease. The M.A.G.I.C. assisted-open mechanism is easily activated by the ambidextrous thumb stud or finger actuator on the back of the blade. Once the assisted-open mechanism has been activated the blade springs open with switchblade speed.
A safety lock much like that on a firearm prevents the blade from accidentally opening in your pocket. It is also a great safety mechanism to have if you have children that might pick up your knife. A heavy duty steel pocket clip ensures this knife won’t ever fall out of your pocket or pack. It would be a great knife for military and law enforcement use, but is great for everyday carry (EDC) as well. If you’re looking for a great assisted-opening pocket knife, the Smith & Wesson Black Ops III
is the one for you.
