Hey! Look What I Found!

When I’m taking my break away from my desk and computer, I like to go down into our warehouse and walk through the aisles. I really never know what I’m going to find on our shelves and I never cease to be amazed. We have such an enormous variety of products that, literally, I challenge anyone to cruise our website and not find something they could use or just plain out want.
The fun for me is to just start at one end of a shelf and walk along scanning the items with my eyes as I make my way to the other end of it. If something catches my eye, I stop and pick it up. Things will get my attention for a variety of different reasons.

Caltrops have been around for hundreds of years.

Some items catch my eye because I’m not familiar with what they are or what they do. So, I get a chance to learn about a product which I’ve never come in contact with before like caltrops. These are small, spiked metal items, which can be either thrown or dropped on the ground to stop an adversary or a pursuer or used in booby traps. What got my attention was the word “caltrops” on the box and I knew I couldn’t leave the warehouse until I had found out what they were. Another item that I never knew existed was the sub-caliber device, which can allow a flare gun to shoot real ammo.

Some items get my attention because I’ve just seen them on our site or have written about them and would like to see them up close and personal like the Dragon Fury series of pocket knives. These were new assisted opening knives that we just got in and it just so happened that I walked by the location where the Gold Titanium was sitting. I took the opportunity to take it off the shelf and peek inside the box to see it in living color. It was even more incredible pocket knife than the picture which I had seen of it initially.

The Smith & Wesson Dive Watch makes a great gift.

More often, than not, an item jumps out at me because it’s something I need or want, whether it’s for myself or a gift for someone else. When I saw the Smith & Wesson Military 100m Dive Watch in one of the aisles, it made me think of Christmas and what I might get for my brother. The Midland AM/FM Programmable Weather Alert Radio that got my attention from the shelf was something that I had been thinking about getting for my home.

The Red Ryder BB Gun brings back memories.

I also find items in our warehouse that give me a wonderful sense of nostalgia like the Daisy Red Ryder BB Gun. I’m an Army Brat and, one day, I looked over at a shelf and saw what I grew up calling “blousing rubbers.” I don’t know what they are called today but it’s what G.I.s use to blouse their fatigues over their boots with. Those really brought back memories of watching my dad, sitting in a dining room chair before he went to work, putting on his boots and using them to fix his pants legs the way they needed to be. Actually, all the wonderful military surplus items that I see on our shelves brings back memories.
