Almost a short sword at 15.5" overall; this is a great Bowie knife for a spectacular price. Very well made.

I realize it's a 15 dollar knife. Upon further inspection, I found a lop sided blade grind ,stains on tge brass ,and a small chunk out of the blade window. A bit more quality control would go a long way.

Great blade.... But it fell apart after the 5th wack on a log.....!!!! The Pakistani blade is great, but that's it. So instead of returning it to BK. I found a solution. So since the blade was good and the handle was junk. I modified it.!! So I remove the pommel and replace it with a nut, with the same thread pattern. Then I put the pommel back in place using Gorilla glue, as it is just for looks.. And then I drilled a hole for a lanyard. Now this sword will chop through a 3'' branches....NO PROBLEM...!!!¡!! Worth buying, but needs to be modified.

Had this knife for two or three months. Have cleared a half acre of woods with it. Not too much of a tall tell! I read on survival sites on facebook about all the $200.00 knives that are a must have for a real survivalist. I disagree completely,,I lived aboard a sailboat for four years. Have hiked much of the Appalachian Trail. Did not carry this knife. Just testifying that I have used knives and knives with marlin spikes for many years. I would take this knife where my life depends on it without fear of failure. I have many knives. I have many guns. But I have rarely seen a deal this good last this long. I do not know how timber rattler does it. Or maybe why is the question. This knife is worthy of a much higher price point.

Bought this one to give to my son. This knife was much, much better than expected! It is a massive Bowie! The handle feels so incredibly great in my hand! The brass accents are beautiful. For $10 bucks, I'd say it's one of the best BUDK deals of all time! I am seriously considering getting one for myself. This is the biggest, baddest, and least expensive bad@$$ Bowie knife you will ever find! I highly recommend it!

I thought this deal was to good to be true but it was not. Huge! Razor sharp, beautiful handle, nice brass. Sheath isn't awful but not the best quality. Western outlaw 20$ for 1 more inch in the blade ? Or jungle jury 10 dollars less for 1 inch less I recommend this over western outlaw absolutely worth 10 bucks

I will start of by saying that this is a GREAT deal for 10 bucks. Okay. Now that that is out of the way, there seems to be some kind of residue on the brass right where the wood touches it. It looks like glue or wood-finish. The sheath is... ok. It seems to be a little tight on the blade. The closer strap isn't well put on and seems to want to came of after a day of taking the knife out. The knife itself is bigger than it looks. You might want to have a yard stick in front of you to really get how big this knife is BEFORE buying it. The blade took an edge really well and kept an edge after pretty extensive use. I recommend this as a work or gift item. Just be ready to ask for a replacement if you are intending it as a gift item as a lot of people have said theirs didn't come in good shape. Over all a good deal on a better knife. Thanks Budk!

Beware it is a lot bigger than it looks! Nice and well put together. But sheath has some sort of stick on it

The knife is their usual high standards but lacked in the edge department, also the sheath is a little on the flimsy side but those items can be remedied with a little hands on work. I like the knife because it is a large blade (I am partial to large massive blades) but is lite and easy to handle. For what I paid it would be worth it at twice the price. Timber Rattler makes some of the best monster knifes I have ever used and I have a nice massive collection after 55 years of collecting. If you want a knife that will last and not fall apart Timber Rattler would be the one to buy.

When I ordered this knife I figured it would be big but when I received this knife I was blown away! Are you serious? $15? That's a steal! Go for it! You won't be dissapointed.

What a shame this knife is on closeout. For $15, it's a steal. Very well balanced and the wooden handle is awesome. Not only is it a beautiful traditional looking bowie, it's also tough as nails. I have chopped wooden logs, sticks, limbs, 2x4's, saplings... I've thrown it, stabbed things with it and it keeps asking for more. It comes pretty sharp right out of the box and has held its edge even after all the abuse I've put it through. This is by far my favorite bowie and I hope to keep it for many many years and one day hand it down to my son. All in all, what a great knife. You better get one while you can.

Saw the video and had to have it. It's everything that is claimed and an awesome piece of cutlery. The knife just feels good in my hand. I have several TR blades and feel they are an excellent value...worth far more than budk's price. Budk is simply a great place to buy knives.

This is incredible i love it. The blade is just the right weight and the crafting in the handle is beautiful and unique to every knife. The leather sheath is a perfect match to the knife. I love it if you never buy an other knife again buy this.

Nice huge knife, and great value. Could have been sharper, will let my nephew learn how to sharpen knifes. Overall good quality, especially leather sheath. Used it to chop down tree, for around $10 bucks not worried about damage.

this is a knife! Big, sharp, and tough. The brass is stained. I'm guessing it's from the glue they used for the handle. But I was able to clean it up pretty well. Either way' I didn't buy this knife to look pretty.

Have bought a couple of these and have received a few others in the "Scratch and Dent" Bowies and Machetes deals offered periodically. Many below have lamented the residue on the brass that have ruined the brass. For those that decide to keep the knife, just a few minutes of sanding with fine grit sandpaper, and some polish such as Brasso will bring back a pretty good finish. Knife is a good deal for the price, even better if you are lucky to get one in a "scratch and dent" package.

This knife is overall a good deal. Very nice blade. Large and comes with a sheath. For $9 I wont complain. I even got free shipping. I have always been happy with purchases from Bud K. Keep in mind on this purchase the Brass is peeling off the top of the handle. I saw that in other peoples reviews prior to purchase. I bought two... one is peeling bad. The other was in very good shape so giving to my dad as a gift.

I was kinda disappointed that this was our first purchase from BudK and it arrived with a scratch on the blade! Which of course wouldn't be an issue if these weren't going to be display knives only!
Response: Hello, we apologize for the scratches on your blade. You are more than welcome to send it back for a replacement, the number to reach us is 1.800.956.1667.

Just received the Timber Rattler JF Bowie. Knowing it was made in Pakistan I expected some blemishes. There are none. The blade is cleanly polished and the brass is unblemished. The handle doesn't have any visible joints, the wood's grain looks great, and it has some kind of "poly-like" finish that makes it very smooth. The leather sheath is thick, no blemishes, and the quality of the stitching I would give a 3 out of 5. I'm pleased with this purchase.

I did not have any of the issues with the brass, wood handle or sheath that are mentioned in other reviews. That being said, I think this knife is a good deal for $10. However, I would have been really disappointed if it had been twice the price. My issue, as mentioned in some of the other reviews, is the blade. It did not have much of an edge on it when received, and does not want to seem to take an edge like my BUCK and Gerber knives (though they were more expensive). Pakistan steel (which this is made of) should be used for train tracks, not knives. I have yet to have one that will take an edge. Unfortunately, the origin of the steel was not mentioned in the description. I think that BudK should include this information - for all, not just Pakistani steel. For the price of $10, I probably would have bought it anyway, but would not have been disappointed by finding it out upon receipt. It is a cool looking knife, and a deal for the price, but don't expect to use it for much of anything.

I've had a hard time deciding on 3 or 4 stars. I changed it twice while I was writing this. Yes it is a great price for a decent knife but sitting it side by side, I don't see much difference between this and the "Pig Sticker" which is 6 dollars less and pretty much in the same class. The handle is probably meant for someone with much bigger hands than mine and it just doesn't feel good unless you move your index finger over the lower guard. There is a great big lump in the middle of the great looking handle that I don't believe would feel right even if the proportions were smaller over all. The Pig Sticker was the same way but I didn't feel bad when I sanded down the handle and wrapped it in Para cord. I'll probably just keep it for looking at.

Got this knife and out of the box not sharp but not a big deal. The thing that got me was that the knife looked like it's been sitting around for quite a while with rust on the button and rivets of the sheath. The brass was stained and were the blade meets the hand guard it looks like some went a little crazy with the grinder cause there is a huge gap, big enough to see where the blade goes into the wood. Don't think your are getting a $30 knife at a $9 price, but for $9 it does serve a purpose. That being said it will not keep me from buying more blades from budk. I have got a lot of great knives from them and will continue to do so.

If you approach this purchase with the $10 price in mind, it is a deal. That said, mine came very dull, the grind was very uneven, the sheath looked moldy (cleaned it up with leather dressing) and very cheaply made; but perhaps the worst was the terrible dark brown substance smeared all over the brass in the grip area which ultimately ate into the brass. It took me an hour of hard work with metal polish to get some of it off but the brass is forever etched from it. At least some of the other reviewers reported the same brown 'stuff' on the brass so do expect the same if you make the purchase-and be happy if yours doesn't have it!

The knife is alright. The blade was not sharp at all and the brass was corroded. I cleaned that up with some hoppes #9 but it is still marked up. The sheath is not usable because every time I take the blade out there is a sticky residue on the blade that is tough to clean off. I do like the wood handle but I think it's hollow. All in all you get a decent 10 dollar blade with an unusable sheath that is not going to be a display piece. Would be a good knife to take camping or using as a beater.
