Very good knife Reviewed by Samuel Guido on Jul 29, 2015   4 out of 5

The Case XX USMC knife is a very good knife. Solid feel in hand, and razor sharp right out of box. I also have the KaBar version of this. The steel in both knives are basically the same, and the dimensions of both knives are similar. The handle of the Case knife is round stacked leather and the KaBar is more oval shaped. The pommel on the KaBar is thicker than the Case. There are two major differences between the 2; first the Case has a sharpened section on the top of the blade, whereas the KaBar has only one edge sharpened. The point on the KaBar is wider because of the sharpening of the blade on the Case. The second major difference between them is the finish. The KaBar is a bit smoother than the Case, and I believe they have two different coatings. The KaBar looks more like an epoxy coating whereas the Case has a more flat matte almost painted look to it, but both finishes seem very well done, just different. I am pleased with the Case knife, and it was a bit less expensive than the KaBar, and a side by side comparison highlights the slight differences. But it is a very well made knife, and will probably get much more use from the Case than my KaBar, (I like to 'baby' my gear) and the Case will see more use, simply because it was less expensive. I only gave it a 4 star rating simply because I have a KaBar which I gave 5 stars to, and in all honesty, seems a slightly better knife, but nothing is taken away from the Case. If I did not have the KaBar to compare it with, I would have given this a 5 star.

Excellent knife at a great price. Reviewed by Jay on Apr 13, 2014   5 out of 5

As a survival instructor one of the first things i teach my students is the importance of their knife and how to buy a good one. A good blade has come to my rescue more times than i can count over the years. This is unquestionably a good blade. Made of good carbon steel that easily takes an edge and holds it through whatever you can throw at it. Solidly put together with no wobble or looseness to any of the parts and it's full tang. It is comparable to the Ka Bar WW2 fighting knife, but $30 cheaper. Sheath is also excellent quality. Whether you want to add it to a collection or use it everyday, you won't be disappointed.

Very high quality knife and sheath. Very thick leather sheath and handle. High quality steel and precision edge. Highly recommend this over many cheaper products on the market.

American Steel Reviewed by DuginMT on Nov 23, 2013   5 out of 5

Received this knife today. It comes packaged within the very nice leather sheath. The sheath is built to last, and my only two minor gripes with the sheath is the cheap cord used for the leg tie-down and the retention snap on mine fits a little too loosley on the handle, IMP. The blade was fairly sharp out of the box, and touched up to a hair-shaving edge easily on my Worksharp. The back of the blade, 2" back from the tip, is not a false edge - it is sharp. The rest of the back of the blade has a nice flat section, with sharp 90 Degree edges, so it should be great for fire-starting. The handle is very comfortable and offers a great grip. All parts on my knife are tight - no sloppiness at all, and mine was made in 1998. The leather on the handle and sheath seemed a bit dry so I gave it a good coat or two of neatsfoot oil. I am proud of this USA-made knife and it would be one of my first choices for general field use and survival. Very similar to the K-Bar, but not as common, and with a better sheath and handle, IMO. Highly recommend this American Blade!

This knife is almost a dead-ringer for an original USN marked bowie that I have in my collection.

This is a great knife. It is just like the knife I had when I was in the Seabees but without the Marine logo and it never failed me. Great for my collection.

Very good quality knife at a reasonable price. A valued addition to my collection. A big PLUS is it's a Case XX. You just can't go wrong with a Case.

Vietnam Knives Reviewed by D Ray East on Dec 31, 2011   5 out of 5

This is the knife that I saw all the jarheads wearing while I was in country 68/69. I actually found one of these after I got back state side in 1970. I had it for almost 20years until it got lost during a house fire in 1998. I think some one saw it and decided they needed it more than I did. I really did like that thing it had not been sharpened correctly when I found it but a couple of week of sharpening and it was great as could be. From then on just a quick touch up and bang good to go. I have seen the Kabar ones and the ARMY one I had was great but I sure would not have traded I really did love the one I had. dray
