Beautiful Piece Reviewed by on Jul 29, 2015   5 out of 5

This sword is a beautiful piece of art. Extremely well balanced and very sharp right out of box. For my first big sword purchase over a year ago now, by far is my favorite and most beautiful piece to add to my collection. I look forward to buying another Damascus sword in the near future!

this is a shirasaya not a nodachi. also to johnny hopper, the hole and plug are not rivets that is the hole for the meguki peg to hold the blade in place. the reason there is only one is because this is a sword to be stored. the blade is most likely glued in at the end of the tang. making a nice secure fit.

Well made. Reviewed by Steven on Jun 01, 2014   5 out of 5

Beautifully made Nodachi with nicely done pearl inlay. The came very sharp and has good balance. It claims to be full tang and from where the balance point is, it would appear to be. The blade is a very tight grained damascus.

The "Pearl" inlay looks ok but does not look like real inlay. For some reason it looks fake. The Handle looks very bad. There is an unsightly hole with a brown plug through the handle. I suppose this was a bad rivet job with some filler that looks like crap and is not finished. At least they could have filled the hole well and black lacquered over it so it was not evident. The supposed MSRP on this sword was ~$500. NO F@#$*n way!! If you are looking for a real nice looking sword just to hang on the wall or make a center piece don't buy it. You will be disappointed. There are much cheaper swords that "look" better if that is all you are after. With this sort of finish work I have high doubts that the rest of the quality of the sword is much better. After I have had the time to put it to the test I will let folks know the quality on the rest of it. I also highly doubt that the handle and the scabbard are lacquered bone. It appears to me to be fiberglass but who wants to start scraping away the lacquer to prove this? Right?? Too many red flags on this sword for me. SORRY guys. Unless you understand what you are getting then don't buy it.

this sword is a beauty. Razor sharp blade ,handle and scabbard beautifully done. Even came with a storage box. It would be a shame to use such a nice sword. This was my first shinwa sord. I own many other more expensive ones and this is by far the nicest. Solidly made and looks to boot. Very impressed!

This sword is a real gem. It is solidly built, and well balanced. It fits snugly into the saya, and there is no rattle. The blade is beautiful damascus with tameshigiri polish, which I actually prefer to mirror polish. The saya features a lovely mother of pearl dragon

I recently purchased the Shinwa pearl Nadachi sword. The Damascus steel layering is superb. The sword has a very nice feel to it.The mother of pearl on the saya or scabbard is beautifully done. Another hats off to Shinwa and budk.

This is by far the most amazing sword I have ever seen. The folds of the damascus steel stand out brilliantly more so than any damascus steel I have ever seen, the feel of the bone handle is smooth and differant than any I have felt, and the inlaid pearl dragon on the scabbard is so beautiful I can't stop looking at it.I very much want to cut something with this amazing sword, but I won't.Your Friend.Daniel of Nebraska.
