The 1851 Navy Sheriff Black Powder Pistol is a finely detailed, working reproduction of the Model 1851 Navy revolver, a sidearm once adopted by both U.S. and British forces. The engraved cylinder commemorates the Texas Navy’s 1843 victory, from which the revolver takes its name. Crafted with period-accurate styling and reliable operation, this piece appeals to both black powder enthusiasts and collectors of historical firearms. Chambered in .44 caliber with a 5 1/2" blued barrel and a solid brass frame, this muzzleloader reflects the balance and durability of its 19th-century original. The single-action mechanism and smooth wooden grip provide an authentic shooting experience, while the detailed metalwork and finish make it equally fitting for display or reenactment.

Awesome people and awesome product

"I have bought a few things through BUDK and appreciate the professionalism of the people who work there. I don't buy too much from you with the exception of mostly collectable blades. You have a great team and great products. Thank you."

One Beefy .44

"I just purchased the .44 Navy Sheriff model. Besutiful revolver and handy. I havent fired it yet, supplies coming in soon. Cant find the #10 caps, but got the cap tool and primer compound on the way. This revolver is heavy. I love it. I live about 30 miles from BudK. I drove to pick mine up."

Great Reproduction 5 stars recommend if you like we'll built blackpowder revolvers

"Love it balance, handling an shoot ability is great. My wife loved it so much it is now hers and she wants a 2nd one. Added color change pearl grips to blue in sunlight for her. 25 grains blackpowder or Pyrodex then 10 grains dry cream of wheat followed by lubes wad then .454 ball seems to give good acuracy. Pinch #11 caps or change to Treso or Slix Shots nipples. 600 to 1000 grit sandpaper very lightly smooth hammer safety slot an flat porcitions. Please watch a video or take to a gunsmith. This will in my opinion give you many years of reliable service. BudK has great prices an terrific customer care. We will continue to be customers."

Better than the reviews

"Having previous read much on fit and finish of Pietta grips and frames, I was pleased to find that on my example these issues were non existent. The fit and finish of metal to wood were supurb with only a couple of spots where the wood was a bit high. Easily leveled with a careful application of a thumb nail. The blueing was excellent, uniform and glossy. The roll engraving on the cylinder was even, sharp and deep. The cylinder to barrel gap is the tightest on any revolver I have ever owned, very impressive. Brass frame was highly polished with no scratches or tool marks, only the cylinder lock screw head sat a bit high compared with the trigger and hammer pivot screws. The only real negative to report is that the finish on the loading lever was spotty, with a fingerprint size bald spot on the left side. Since this is not genuine case-hardening, I don't care too much, but it did cost a half star to the rating. Overall, a fine quality piece that I would recommend to others."

Austin (5/5)

1851 navy sheriff

"Shipped very fast after waiting for what felt like forever to come back into stock, gun looks and feels amazing! My first CB revolver was a ROA so this 1851 had quite a competitor as far as what I had to compare with. Cannot wait to shoot this 1851 and plink some targets! Saving up for a 3rd CB arm but I think a rifle next up!"
