Another Great Pietta Reproduction
"The 1860 Army is the the 3rd Pietta revolver I've purchased from BUDK, and as usual it's a great value for what you get. This is an overall gorgeous pistol. One of the first things I noticed was the walnut grips, which have an almost nutty light-brown color and smooth matte finish which is very nice to look at, and a nice change from the dark and glossy brown grips commonly used on these reproductions. The fitment of the grips is not perfect, with there being some noticable overhang where they meet the frame of the pistol, and the back strap of the grip not being completely smooth. However this is common with Pietta's, and does not make the pistol uncomfortable. Also, the grip handle overall is about 1/2" longer than the one on the '51 Navy, which makes for a much more comfortable and ergonomic hold on the gun. The finish is as good as one can hope for from Pietta. The engravings on the cylinder are detailed and clean, the case-hardened frame is beautiful, and the barrel is very well made. The blueing is uniform and even, giving the metal a smooth and sleek dark finish. Also, there is an additional cutout on the recoil shield (which is not present on the '51 Navy) that helps used caps fall out and aids in preventing cap-jams. This is definitely a pistol that most people will be proud to add to their collection or display."
