Worth the money
Was a bow hunter for decades. When my state make Crossbows legal I purchased this crossbow. I killed a good doe with it at 25 yards. It was a clean harvest and a short tracking job. It is one of my favorite deer hunting weapons.

Great for the price!
I bought this for my husband and he was MORE THAN impressed. I know NOTHING about crossbows but he was very happy. My only complaint was that it takes a LOT of strength to cock it. Me nor my 15 year old son can cock it ourselves and we aren't "weak" people by any means! Overall It is heavy and awesome. I'm very happy with the purchase

love this crossbow
shoots well. I used a stringer and it made things so much easier. Added a scope and it's ready to go.

Liked the bow the string sucked it broke and I bet I shot it less than 50 times
Love thing I drew a silowet on a piece of carpet stuck it to a nail of straw and after I got it sighted at 80 feet I'd hit it in the face every time.the arrows we're a little disappointing though after 10 or 15 shots I'd have to straighten them the best I could.and the string sucks shot it less than 50 times and it broke

Great crossbow
Tried stringing with and without stringer, no go. Had to take to bow shop to have it strung. Sights were a little bent when I received it but after shooting and some adjustment it shoots very accurately. It's a powerful bow that really packs a wallop. Had several friends shoot and all hit with fairly good accuracy. Fine bow for fun and hunting.

Much better than expected
For the price I was just expecting a crossbow that would be fun for target practice and nothing much more than that. I am highly impressed with the amount of power this thing packs. Set up was very easy other than the stringing but now that I have a method this will definitely be joining me on a deep woods trip.

Very impressed
Picked this up for $69 bucks along with the 80lb pistol.
It's my first crossbow, but I really was not expecting it to be as powerful as it is. Had to get creative when stringing it, but holy crap, I really did not expect it to bury a bolt 10-12 inches in a hardened archery block. Very impressed, very solid and well made weapon. will be getting the leaper crossbow scope.
The 80lb pistol is also nice, shooting 6 inch aluminum bolts reliably though a phone book.

This X-Bow is damn good
This X-Bow is probably my favorite thing to use in my entire armory.... Not joking... I have pretty much every weapon in my armory from throwing knives all the way up to a grenade launcher and this Crossbow seems to always get taken out with me when I go on my daily hike/hunts out on my ranch... it's nice and light so makes it an easy transport and thing packs a nice punch... very fun to shoot. Perfect for the novice or the pro...I have 3 other xbows which cost me 3 to 4 to 5x the price of this one and I would choose this one over any of my others in a heart beat.... I added a green/red laser dot scope as well as a 3 arrow quiver and I couldn't ask for anything better... Big Ups to Avalanche and BudK for hitting this one way out of the park...Well Done!

Great bow for the $
I bought 2 of these when they had the $49.00 blow out. I must admit I was SKEPTICAL! After watching a youtube video on an easy way to string the bow I took it out this evening. I was IMPRESSED! I buy weapons for survival and I guarantee with very little practice you could bag a rabbit. With a nice razor broad head you could bag a deer within a reasonable distance. I was going to spend a bunch of cash on a compound bow but no need to. This crossbow can defiantly get the job done under reasonable conditions. I always look at the steal of the day and 2 of these bows for a little over 100 bucks was a great Steal of the Day. Keep in mind you are buying a simple bow and should not be compared to some of the high tech bows costing hundreds. A rabbit at 20-30 yards should be no problem using only the sights that come with it. 100% happy with the purchase. BudK speedy shipping and great customer service as always is consistent. Its funny I think I talk to the chat person more during the week than my own wife! Always willing to help!
Buy one of these with confidence. BTW....I really do not think the bow is as short as everyone seems to comment on.

Very impressed for a $99 crosbow!
Many reviewers complain about the butt-stock length, but in reality, it's about the same length-of-pull as an AR-15 collapsible stock in its shortest position. Just put the tip of your nose on the back of sight, just like putting the tip of your nose against the charging handle of an AR-15 to get your sight-picture. I REALLY like the length-of-pull on this butt-stock, so thanks to Avalanche for getting it right the first time!

Great crossbow
Even though this crossbow is great its not 150lb its 130lb and you need the 180 lb string if the one it comes with breaks other. Then the bolt coming loose after crazy abuse it still works given you check it right. The best advice would be check after every 10 shots other then that this is a beast great for the price.

Foldable 150 lb Crossbow
Much better than I expected it to be for just $99! The stock is a little shorter than it could be but it doesn't take away from the fun!

Alan
I finely got it strung had to take to an archery shop to have it done. They should have supplied the crossbow with a stringer . So far it is a nice bow for the price and for a beginner shooter. I don't think I will be taking it a part until I have a Stringer. It is a good first bow for beginners. So I do recommend you should by one you can't beat the price. However take it to and archery shop to have it strung when you get it, then you need to get your own stinger.

Xbow shooter
This is my first full sized x bow. I like the fact I can fold it down and travel with it. It also keeps the limb tight after lots of shooting. The other non folding types have a set screw in the middle of the limbs. This can loosen with many shots. I gave it 4 stars because the front site is very flimsy. It fell over when i had it propped up against the wall and it bent. Bent back easy. I removed the iron sites and put some weaver rail on it. Now i have a green dot laser on it. Im only shooting about 10 yards because i dont have alot of room. Very easy to cock by hand too. Just use gloves to protect my hands. Got some 18" arrows and cut them down to put fixed broadheads on too. I can punch through about 850 pages of catalog with it. Leaves a 1.5in hole! No toy here :D Id buy this again!

Serious weapon
I bought this crossbow on the Steal of the Day 49.00 price. I favor longbows and recurves and wanted to experience a crossbow. This thing is NOT any kind of toy and packs some serious power. Respect it or you could get hurt. It comes with string and two 16" bolts. I had to get a stringer and a cocking rope-these would have been nice to include in the package but for 49.00 I didn't expect them. It was easy enough to set up the limbs (prods) but NOT at all easy to string the bow. I took my time and finally got it done. The stringer was simple to remove after stringing which is usually not the case with crossbows. Apparently I got lucky. When ready to use, a cocking rope is a much safer and simpler way to cock the bow-trying to pull that much draw weight is beyond most people's ability and can be dangerous. This crossbow has an automatic safety that engages when cocked. It will not cock unless the safety is off beforehand. The butt stock length is OK for me-I am 5'2" and arms to match so this is not an issue for me. Easy to sight in. The bolts included are fine for getting familiar with your crossbow but I got some very nice 20" carbon fiber bolts and it really made a difference. I use straw bales to back my targets and help my arrows/bolts last longer. This crossbow is well built, easy to use (once set up and strung) and fun to shoot as long as you remember it is a powerful weapon and not a toy. 4 stars for no stringer/cocking rope and lack of recommendation to get them. Otherwise a real winner.

WOW
Been wanting a crossbow for some time, this has my name on it !
The folding feature also fits my prepping needs, though you may need time to assemble, still worth trying on hikes or survival treks. Would recommend getting carbon fiber bolts for use, 18-20 inch ,tips of ur choice.

good begginer
I bought this as a pack bow and it does a fine job. I have taken small game with no problem. Recommend using an 18" bolt if you are going after larger game as broad heads wont pass under the front site. All in all worth the money.
Chad Mar 12, 2009 (4 out of 5)
Money well spent
This is a very good crossbow, for the money. Just be aware that the stock is very short. I am going to have an extention made for mine. Other than that, I am very happy with it!
