...I'm very confident I can handle anything that comes my way!! Will Pierce or stab & slice my way out of any encounter from zombies to camping. Get one...
I expected a nice piece of steel. The pictures do not do it justice. It is quite a hunk of carbon steel for sure.
First thing I noticed the sheath was heavy woven synthetic and riveted along all sides, and very tough. The blade was totally a surprise. Out of the box, It came almost razor-sharp, and beautifully ground to perfect symmetry. A travel bag was included. Not expensive but the tool would be in the sheath anyway. I train with all forms of weapons and this was is more of a camping or yard tool. It is perfect in that mode as the well-formed blade is weighted slightly to the front, desirable for camp work or chopping. For combat, it will be slower in the return arc. This has a 'Full' Tang, to the butt. I don't see the handle breaking, but since the tang is full, it is an easy thing to replace it for a custom grip.
I immediately went out in the heavily wooded yard. I cut through a branch of hardwood, about 1 3/8 thick, but very dense. three hacks to snap it clean off. The first, two cuts were at an angle, then the base of the angle, to snap it clean. I went to my woody giant weeds, over 5 " high, Base 3/4 of an inch to one inch. Only one wack per stalk, clean. I did stabilize the stalk with my other hand.
This Machete is a steal. I noticed only two reviews, so I assume it is a new product. All in all, I think it is the best deal out there. No one will ever say this is cheap work. I do not work, or am I in any way affiliated with any company which is associated with Bushmaster. I am a professional and I know quality. For the price, I think it is a new item, and eventually, the price may go up. It is as the ad says, 'The steal of the day.
Recieved on of these in a mystery box and I must say that at first I was put off by the tip, but soon realized that this is a solid cutter. It's a good hunk of carbon and it looks really nice and is assembled well. I could see this machete getting some chores in the near future!

Just received the Bushmaster Bushcraft Smatchet and I am extremely satisfied with the service and product. The full tang blade has a very nice heft, thickness and balance. Feels solid in the hand. The sandwich wood handle is typical medium-sized grip for a machete-like blade yet easily remedied for larger hands by wearing gloves or adding a leather wrap. Very sharp right out of the box. The grind is nice and even all around. Has a false-edge that is nicely beveled and will assist with piercing strikes. For the money, this is an excellent buy. For anyone who doesn't know, 1095 steel is a strong, high-carbon steel that can sustain a lot of outdoor challenges - camping, hunting, target cutting. It is a true outdoor companion. When dull, it will also take a lot of work or professional resharpening but the trade off is it will hold an edge longer than other lighter steels. It's a 5 out of 5 all the way around.
