Product Description
You will be absolutely combat ready with the Combat Commander Spartan Sword in your hands. Originally used by the mighty Spartans, the full-tang, 23 1/2" sharp blade is of 1065 carbon steel and has a black hard coating finish. The handle is fiber filled ABS with a soft textured TPR covering and is as tough as they get! A nylon sheath with a protective PVC liner lets you house it with ease.
Bought it 2 years ago, still taking out those pesky thorn bushes and sapling trees and low hanging limbs. Sharpen 4 times so far no lose in metal or rolling edges.

Very impressed with what I got for the the price.
Great starter sword. Love the weight. BudK fan for life.

Great sword!
Yeah it's a really nice sword, it came super sharp and it has some heft to it a little more towards the end for obvious reasons. Literally only thing I can say "bad" is the shipping took a extra day to get to me but I'm pretty sure I got like $10 back on shipping because it didn't arrive the day it said it would. Great service.

Absolutely a brute of a sword. It weighs a bit more than I anticipated but that doesn’t hinder my liking it in the slightest. Came fairly sharp out of the box, but could stand a little time with an Accusharp. If you’re considering buying this beast, think no more. Buy it.

This monster beats any machete I have ever bought. I love it

Amazing value for the price
At the sale price of $26, this is an incredible steal. This is a heavy duty, beautiful monster. It's intimidating as hell, heavy as heck, and seems solidly constructed. I don't plan on actually testing it or striking anything with it so I can't say anything about its durability, but it looks VERY solid and brutal, but also strangely slender and sexy. If you practice swinging this thing around for any length of time you will gain some muscle. It came sharp. Not razor sharp/paper cutting sharp, but with the brutal weight behind this thing, that's not necessary, and might even have been a hindrance. Amazed at this deal.

Nice
Nicely made. Nice sheath. Weighs 2 lbs (as opposed to the forged version which weighs 4 lbs). Front heavy of course, so makes a great chopper. Not a stabber. If you want something for taking zombie heads in the apocalypse, this will work well :-)

Well Worth It!
Received this in the mail today on my birthday and I love it. Well made and a steal for the price.

Impressive Sword
From the picture, it looks like a machete, but it's definitely thick enough to be considered an actual sword. It's quite forward heavy for a sword, as its design would suggest, but this just increases it's ability as a chopper. This thing can take abuse that would shatter some $200 swords. The black coating will come off with use, but not very easily. Sword came moderately sharp, it can easily be made to be paper-cutting sharp with an accusharp. With heavy use, there was a very, very slight edge rolling on a tiny part of the blade, but a few strokes with the sharpener and it was good as new. This is excellent for the price.

It’s a MONSTER
Overall this is an excellent blade for the price. I haven’t tested the hardness yet but it seems to be able to get the job done.
It is HEAVY, I mean a good solid massive chunk of steel that feels like it will go through anything without much trouble.

It's a weapon
If you have a fairly strong wrist, this blade will chop and wack with no problem through bone, wood, along with DE-Capitations of a would be Zombie.

Big
This is a big one handed sword. It's sharp. Very sharp. It's just too big for me. If it was six inches shorter, or if I was six inches taller, it'd be perfect. But it is a cool sword.

Sturdy
Great sword and very durable. I had to replace the first one they sent because it had a chip in the blade and the second one they sent is near flawless but when I look down the blade it is slightly bent to the right but isn't enough to really bother me. All in all this is a great sword and I recommend it

Nice Sword
A little on the heavy side for a one handed sword for swing and recovery but not too heavy. Heavy enough to do some serious chopping and hacking. Believe me i tried and this sword does its job well. Also the black coating does come off fairly easily but i dont really mind.

Great bang for the buck
Honestly for $40 this is a steal. It is a little bit too heavy to be used as a machete and I am thinking of wrapping the handle with either leather cord or 550 paracord as the handle is a not as comfortable as I had hoped. This is a sword, and is not a toy. Came reasonably sharp but I took my accusharp to it quick and it is now razor sharp.
Balance point is about 5 inchest down the blade from the top of the handle. Has alot of forward momentum. Handle with respect.

Better than Expected
I thought this might be another machete type sword but was truly impressed. This is a bargain! I got more than I paid for. It is a beast of a sword. It is more of a chopping sword with the center of balance more forward than a typical sword. It came sharp. It is definitely full tang. The sheath is what I expect at this price point. The extra plastic guard at the tip is good. The seams are done well. Two snaps to secure the sword are a smart move.

Excellent weapon
This sword came much sharper than I expected, and is extremely tough. I was actually able to cleave another sword clean in half without it so much as scratching the paint. I highly recommend this weapon.

Great steel BUTTTT
The steel used in this sword is incredible. I put it through the ringer the way any Marine would and that is when I found a problem! The leather on the handle and the guards came right off. Well, improvise, adapt and overcome right! I used 550 cord and braided a new handle so its a SHTF Spartan sword. Love this thing but have to give 4 stars because of the handle. I imagine most of the people on this site can make a fix so def worth the money.

First Sword
This was my first sword purchase ever and it is decent for its price. However, this sword is duller than a brick out of the box. If you are planning to buy this sword, I highly recommend a knife sharpener (mine was made by Wüstof and goes for around $20-$30). Beyond its initial quality, the weight of the sword complements its machete-like design, and I have only one minor complaint about its sheath (personal complaint; to each his own): it includes a vertical sheath rather than a horizontal sheath, meaning that the sword, when attached to a belt, must be drawn straight up rather than out in front of the user. Aside from a couple of minor rectifiable complaints, it was not a bad purchase.

awesome
I got this because I wanted another edged weapon. Thought wall hanger maybe... But I am totally impressed with how bada$$ this sward is. Its a lot more heavier then I thought it would be. It swings very nicely. the very tip of my sward was broken...just the tip. I can resharpen a tip on there. I got it engraved and that came out very nice to. As always I love BUDK.
keep calm and war on.

Not as described
I bought this for a friend, as a graduation gift. Upon receiving the sword, he told me to give it three stars because it had good weight and it was practically razor sharp. Though he said that the point was dull and that the overall finish looked as if it were used. Meaning that the paint job was scratched and dull looking. However, I convinced him to give it a try, since appearance isn't everything. Bad mistake, the dam sword cuts grass and cactus well, however it does not even cut cardboard and paper at all. The truth is, the steel feels like stainless steel instead of 1065 high carbon. This is because it was easily dented and upon hitting a rock, it was more damaged than my 420 stainless steel kukri. Though to clarify, I hit concrete with my kukri and it only had two minor chips. The spartan sword had a big one and the shards flew around. Besides the fact that the full tang construction is only held by two plastic pins. By the way, the other reviewers probably only used it as a display piece. Not worth the $30.
