"I've read many reviews that criticize this ( and other ) daggers for not being "Sharpened" when they arrive from the manufacturer. The FACT is: The dagger is not a "Knife" and is not designed to have a sharpened blade. The dagger is a pointed, "Thrusting" weapon rather than a "Cutting" weapon, and is designed to puncture armor, not slice flesh. Of course there is nothing wrong with sharpening your dagger and utilizing it as a knife if you wish to do so, but you shouldn't be surprised when you order a dagger, and it arrives with the edges for which it's designed use. The V42 is well made, sturdy, and meets all the necessary criteria for a Combat Dagger. It makes a very nice looking, and solid addition to my collection."

"Nice knife - Heavy but all the weight is in the handle. The problem with this knife, and it seems to be happening moor and moor with the products from BUDK is - It IS NOT SHARP. I know BUDK doesn't inspect every knife but they should tell their vendors to make sure the KNIVES they send them are SHARP. Im tired of ordering a knife and having to spend possibly ( Depending on the knife ) HOURS putting an edge on it. You would have to apply a good amount of pressure to get this knife to cut ANYTHING tougher than butter - It's TERRIBLE !!! PUT THAT THE KNIFE IS NOT SHARP IN THE DESCRIPTION !! Let the buyer decide if they want to buy and then sharpen it."
