Long Time Favorite

"I got this knife years ago when it was being sold as the "Black Bear Fighting Knife," and it made me a huge fan of Hibben blades. The knife overall is sized perfectly, not to big, but definitely not small. The handle is surprisingly ergonomic and comfortable, and the trigger grip makes it impossible for the blade to slip out of your hand. I don't have large hands myself, but several of my friends who do have commented on how comfortable the handle feels. As the handle has aged the "wood grain" has changed from a grey to a brownish color which contrasts nicely with the black stain. The leather sheath is thick and sturdy and has held up well over the years. This is a hefty, purpose-built knife that will last for years. Out of all of the knives in my collection, this is the one that I would hope to have on me during an emergency or a life-threatening situation."

A masterpiece!!!

"This knife is not only one of the coolest knifes I've seen, but it's also VERY VERY well made and I would highly recommend this masterpiece knife to anyone. It comes with a 7 1/2 blade which I expected to be kinda small but surprising ly it's not all that much smaller than my 14 in. Bowie, the only difference is the blades on the 2 Bowies are different size from the blade to the back of the knife, but that just makes it even better!!!:) Great knife!!!:)"

Dont Let Them Engrave It!

"I love this knife, it feels fantastic and is razer sharp, well made quality !! I just wished I had not asked BUDK to engrave it and another knife I had ordered as a gift! A monkey could have done a better job, It was put in a stupid place on the blade and was not straight and was stamped not engraved!!! Spoilt the look of a great blade just no care taken so thanks BUDK such a shame after years of great service!! NEVER AGAIN BEWARE and don't waste $5 Guess this will not get posted"

Very Impressive

"I've wanted to have a bowie knife for sometime and purchased the Gil Hibben Assault Knife to check the quality. I normally purchase only "name" brand knives (i.e. Kershaw, Gerber, Buck, Cold Steel, etc.) for the known quality of their knives and the Assault knife impressed me from the moment I removed it from the box. The quality of both the knife and the sheath were immediately apparent. The knife blade was sharp, even after notching some seasoned red oak it would easily take the hair off my arm. This knife has become a daily companion whether riding in its sheath on my belt or near at hand stored in my vehicle. I have since ordered several other Gil Hibben knives from BudK. Their products and service have been excellent to date and I look forward to doing more business with them in the near future."

Excellent Subhilt Fighter

"The Design, Fit, Finish & Overall Quality of this Knife are Excellent, especially considering the very reasonable price offered by BUDK. The sheath is another story, it does appear to be made of "compressed leather pieces", is too tight, and the retaining strap is too short to secure. This knife would easily rate a "5" with a better sheath. In spite of the sheath, I have ordered a duplicate of this knife at the request of a close friend. We are both very pleased with the knife and would strongly recommend it!"
