Gil Hibben’s Old West Bowie Knife - Bloodwood Edition is a refined take on one of his most iconic designs, brought back for a limited time. Inspired by classic frontier blades and built with Hibben’s signature craftsmanship, this bowie is both a striking showpiece and a capable tool. The 14" clip point blade is crafted from stainless steel with a high-polish finish, offering a bold silhouette with a smooth, reflective edge. The handle’s red-brown hardwood scales have a natural look and a comfortable, balanced feel in the hand. Polished gold-plated accents on the guard and blade catcher lend a distinguished contrast to the rich tones of the wood. Measuring 20 1/2” overall, the knife includes a custom leather belt sheath to keep it protected and ready for display or carry.

Beyond My Expectaions

"Great Knife, Great Price, Get One@@"

Great Piece

"Proud to have this in my collection. As of now it's a display piece only so I have no info on wear and tear. Looks great on display and makes for a solid decorative or conversation piece."

Incredible!

"This is the most beautifull knife! OMG! I am 52 years old and a knife/sword freak. I cannot believe this blade. Get one. One is all you will need. Beautifull, sharp, heavy(just enough.) Wow! -- PW"

"I'm not much on stainless but you cant buy a Gil Hibben that's not stainless unless your pretty well off and are willing to pay thousands for the same knife not in stainless. I have two Hibben bowies. Want I absolutely despise is the gold plated fittings. I use mine and it's aggravating when that crappy gold plating wears off. Make it brass man. Yes you have to polish the brass if you don't want the corrosion but it's at least real and not a plated piece of crap."

Gil Hibben Old West Bowie Knife

"I received this knife early this week and it exceeded my expectations. When living in Southern California, I attended numerous gun shows to look for Bowie knives. I saw and met Gil Hibben at several of these shows and learned that he makes a superior knife. I could not afford the price of one of his custom Bowies but when I saw the Old West Bowie on BudK, I reviewed the specs and immediately ordered it. Having a lifelong interest in Bowies, I had done a lot of research on what Jim Bowie's knife looked like. That knife disappeared after Bowie's death at the Alamo so no one has ever seen it. However, in my research the Gil Hibben Old West Bowie came the closest to what I had learned about the original knife. As a sidenote, I attended an auction preview at Butterfield and Butterfield in San Francisco several years ago when they auctioned off one of the largest Bowie collections in the world. It included one knife that Bowie had actually owned. It had been made by Jim's brother, Rezin P. Bowie, and given to Jim. The auction people let me hold that knife. It was featured on the cover of the auction catalogue. To make a long story short, the Old West Bowie is a classic Bowie, and overwhelming when you hold it or see it. It is a huge knife that could easily make one quiver. The point was so sharp that I recommend not poking your finger on it. The edge was a sharp as a razor and easily shaved off hair on my arm. The brass guard is massive and would repel another knife in combat. The rosewood handle is perfect and fits the hand well. The sheath is good leather and does require some use to get the fit of the blade right owing to the brass overlay on the top edge of the blade. This is my second Gil Hibben Bowie and I highly recommend one for any serious collector of Bowies. A photo of my knife and I is attached."

"I have wanted this gorgeous knife for a very long time, but it was not available until recently. I saw it on bud K and had to grab one right away. It is an absolutely beautiful, stunning, massive knife With a beautifully shaped blade and sweeping clip point. The wooden handle is beautiful as well. Very nice looking black leather sheath as well. I have a large collection of bowie knives, and this is definitely one of my favorites."

Stunning

"This thing is simply gorgeous. Just received today and the pictures don’t do it justice. Fit and finish is impressive and it came relatively sharp. An eye-catcher for sure. Bought for collection/display so toughness and durability are unknowns. Maybe the good folks at BudK will do a YouTube video of this version? As with my other BudK purchases, it was well-packaged and shipped quickly. 5 stars."
