I do believe I could smack something with the grip and the sword would stay put until I release the latch. "First let me start with I ordered it on a Sunday late night added engraving as I do with all my canes so I expected to get in about two weeks if not longer to my surprise I got confirmation and on Friday of that week I received my cane now this being my first time dealing with this company and my first cane of this type which I been looking for since I started carrying one so going off the reviews I took the leap and so glad I did the height is perfect for anyone that actually needs one too walk with if your 5’9 to about 5’101/2 anyone else it’s good for self defense walking stick over all very pleased with the quality of the product"
