"Based on the date I received this amazing weapon, I call it Midnight Hammer. I have always been a traditionalist when it comes to medieval weapons. The Honshu line has opened up a new venue for me. Exceptional well made functional pieces that if need be could be called on to perform their intended function. This is my first hammer. Its big, its heavy, its amazing, I love it. I haven felt this way opening a box since Christmas in the 1970's."

"The hammer is very nice looking. The head appears to be good quality but that isn't considering testing. The inner metal rod or tang only goes past the three bolts securing it to the handle rather than full length of the handle; and it is placed sideways into a slot in the handle instead of inserted into a hole on the end. The handle seems decent but I question what its strength and durability will be with any repeated pounding considering it doesn't have a full length metal rod core. The weight is approximately 4 pounds but seems heavier because it is unbalanced with almost all weight in the head which requires more strength to control it. All in all it is nice but if I had the chance to do it over I would not buy it. It needs a lighter head and better balance and then it would be very nice. I do like the spike on the top center of the head which is about an inch and a half long which can be a good first strike weapon to poke a hole in an attacker with a quick and power jab that they will be worried about."

"While I would have rated this at least a 4 since this is a good quality item, the fact that BUDK sent me at least 4 emails after I completed the purchase saying the iitem was still in my shopping basket was extremely annoying as wasteful of my time & makes me less like to purchase items form BUDK in the future."
