I absolutely love this freakin Axe!! It’s hands-down one of the best I have ever used always keeps a good sharp edge it’s built like a tank takes a beating yet still looks amazing, Christ,..I’d marry this axe if it didn’t have a beard lol! A 110% WINNER OF AN AXE!

Good
It's good but you can't abuse it because of the lightweight handle

awesome weapon
this tomahawk is a very sturdy solid weapon. I have used this for a week, throwing and cutting down trees and its still in amazing condition. one thing is that the compass wasn't as great as some other ones I've seen but it still works. over all I'm glad i bought this weapon and would gladly buy from this site again.

Should have waited
I ordered two of these, one was a gift, the M48 Marine version. A week after I received them, the price dropped, a week after that it dropped again! Damn the luck! Aside from that, this is an AWESOME tomahawk! Well worth the money, very well balanced, very sharp, and very well made! The only modification I will be making will be to the paracord wrapped handle. It tends to loosen up with use and if not adressed could become a hazard. This gets an easy 4-5 stars!

IMPRESSED
Great tool compass is poor but I upgraded for the mollie comp. pouch. I've had it for about 6 months, been using this alot but haven't really abused it. I rarely give 5 stars but I think this tomahawk has erned it.

Gr8 Tomahawk
This is a nice piece especially for the price. It has a good balance and 2 good weapons w/nice sharp edges. Also has a Gr8 look to it which is good because i hope that's the only the thing it gets used for, if i have to actually use the weapon its gonna be a real bad day, lol.

This is a great update to the old style tomahawk. i had one when i was in the core and loved it. this one has paracord wrapped around the handle and like other folks it cam lose on me after i tried it out so i just re-ran it down the handle and now works great. i split a four inch thick log that was two feet long in one blow and the spike went in like butter. and i got this within 24 hours also the compass is really good to.

I recently purchased the advanced combat tactical tomahawk. I am impressed with the overall design and construction. The head is very sharp and is made from decent materials which appear to be very durable. However the spike on the end was not sharp. The balance is a little light on the handle. The corded handle was a joke, I removed it within seconds. The sheath fits loosely over the head, if pulled down at an angle the point of the head which is VERY sharp will pull down and stick out about a quarter of inch of the bottom. In a battle situation it could slice open your fingers when you try to remove it. I have addressed these problems. I sharpened the end spike, put on a new handle grip, designed and built a new sheath, balanced it for throwing. I would not use this tomahawk as a tool, but it is a kick ass weapon. Needless to say I am ready for the Zombie Invasion now!! Lol. Great customer service and fast delivery. I give it 5 Stars!!!

Awesome
I got my hawk and this thing is straight up combat ready. I like the fact that the handle is long enough to hold with both hands if need be. It is also well balanced. All in all great tool to have. Everyone should have one in their go bag.

M48
Very fine tool more than expected. The plastic compass is a joke. Otherwise great tomahawk.

wicked
Frickin awesome! Came sharp, this thing is tough light and sexy. Only thing I didn't like was the string on the handle came off after my third throw. Its cool nothing a little super glue won't fix.

I just got this today and haven't gotten a chance to test it but feels very sturdy and durable. Right out of the box the only issues I see are the head is smaller than I thought it would be but still big enough to do whatever it is you need it to do. Not sure if the spike end is suppose to be sharp but it was dull. and the wrap feels a little loose
Steven Sabell Mar 06, 2012 (5 out of 5)
It's incredibly durable and can easily with stand blunt strikes and blows as well as being thrown. It is incredibly high quality for it's price. The nylon sheathe is also not your typical flappy nonsense but is actually very high end and usable.

The only issue was that the 550 cord wrapping slid off of the handle on the first throw. After the second throw it came nearly completely off. So I just took it off and honestly, it's better without it. You can get a much better grip and not have to worry about it slipping off if you just take it off right away.

Overall 5/5.

another for the collection
I collect tomahawks.I bought this one so I didn't have to read about it anymore. Not my first hawk.Better than some, not better than others. You should only throw throwing hawks. This is not one of them folks. My Vietnam hawk has way better punching power through metal.I do like the cutting edge.I carry different hawks for various things,This one will sit by my bed.Cold steel has some good hawks as does other companies.I like a hammer backs with a good blade its way more practical in the woods.Im not going into combat and am not killing zombies.Sorry fellas not my thing.Just a collector and avid woodsmen.Enjoy it for what it is.It is worth the money. For the ones that broke go get a round wood mal handle, cut the length you want table saw the proper length drill the holes and your back to work.It will not break when you throw it.Thats the problem with the plastic handles, vibration kills them.Edged weapons are cool!Go getem boys!Late!

Bad**s hawk
This thing is sweet. Like the FDE mine came in. With a little play I bet one could fit it on some M.O.L.L.E. gear. Razer sharp ax head and the spike has no problem punching holes in just about anything. Has a solid feel to it. Could use an upgraded compass. As is though the M48 Ranger Hawk is war ready.

Excellent Axe, but With Uncommon Flaw
This axe is excellent! It's sturdy, sharp, and appealing to the eye. The compass is useful, but the materials used to make it could be higher quality, like maybe a metal body instead of plastic. If you're buying this just for the axe/compass combo, it's probably not worth the extra $10. However, if you're buying it because you also like the color, which is slightly more green than in the image, then it's worth it. My one real complaint that gave this a 4 star rating is something that I suspect is just a rare case. Upon examination of the spike on the back of the axe head, it appears as though the very tip of it might have been previously chipped off and sanded down to a slightly uneven surface, dulling said tip making it not as effective in piercing. As I said before though, I believe this is just my rare experience. If it weren't for this chip, I'd have given this axe a 5 star rating in a heartbeat. It's a very good axe otherwise, and I still highly recommend the M48 Tactical Tomahawk in general to everyone.

Fantastic Tactical Tomahawk
Great Axe! Mine came in O.D. green and not the Flat Dark Earth that is most seen in photos.
tanner esparza Jun 30, 2012 (4 out of 5)
very pleased with product, very sharp end points and sticks very well also. the onlt thing i didnt like is after teh first few throws the paracord had began to fall off and i had to retie it. and the head is a lot small than you think

Good
Good for what it is, this is not a heavy duty Tomahawk, the handle is not as heavy as it could be...the Compass is just a little toy that I had to give my grand daughter, the bezel is in a fixed position so you cant put in any declination, the compass it self only works when it wants to, and because it is such a light weight plastic, I would recommend getting a real Lensatic Compass, old military issue.

M48
Was initially impressed but some flaws have surfaced. The spike easily wears down with heavy use. No longer a point more like a nub. Under heavy duress the spike will become useless. Ax end is fine so far.

Was great, at first
It was actually a very great decently balance tomahawk buuuut after around 50 throws or so the handle broke where the metal starts. It was a huge disappointment. I would understand it to be a lower price, but that's too expensive for 50 throws.

Broken m48

broken handle
I wrote a review back in April and I gave it 5 stars. Now my m48's handle just broke after throwing it at a target I made in my backyard... BIG flaw in this design. It broke off just under the third star screw. I will say that the business end on this thing is still awesome.
