Very interesting knife. It has a stick tang, not a full tang as some have suggested. I do not know how far the tang goes into the length of the handle, it may even be a push tang. But when you inspect the hand guard, you will notice that the width of tang is significantly less wide than the blade. We shall see, I have not gotten to abuse it yet. Currently stripping the coating to see what the finish is about so I can polish it up and make it pretty. The sheath is what it is, cheap, but then this was a good value for the price. I can't wait to get it in the woods. Has a nice balance. I did use it to cut up a pork shoulder straight out of the box and I was not disappointed with the edge. Still sharp after using it in the kitchen a couple times on large pieces of meat. Was able to satisfactorily carve a turkey with it after some other home uses and have not needed to sharpen nor hone it yet.

The MTECH Bowie is "Strong," "Durable," and a "Great" Survival Tool.

Good Blade Reviewed by Chuck on Oct 02, 2014   5 out of 5

For $20.00 is more than worth the price. Strong thick built blade. Decent nylon sheath. Seems to hold eadge well. The rubber handle conforms to the grip. Most of all can take rough treatment and work when you need it.

Great Value! Reviewed by Screwface on Sep 15, 2014   5 out of 5

I bought this knife after reading several positive reviews and now that I have had the chance to use it, it has become my go-to. It is very solid and well made. The blade is made from a quite thick piece of stainless steel. It doesn't rust easily, holds an edge, and sharpens easily. I paid around $20 for this cold steel trail master clone and it was a great buy! I plan on getting a few more for my truck and bug out bags. Now I own a pretty substantial collection of knives and most of them are far more expensive than this mtech bowie but because I spent so much on some of my knives, I'm hesitant to use them and find myself reaching for the mtech constantly. Its so cheap that I don't feel bad abusing it. The only area where I thought they could approve upon it was the sheath. Its a very basic, cheap, nylon sheath with a belt loop at the top. I would like to see, and would even pay extra for a hard plastic, molly compatible sheath.. But for around $20, I cant complain. Its a quality knife at a bargain price. It is such a good buy that I plan on ordering 5-10 more and giving a few as gifts.

I've had this knife for three years and I abuse the hell out of my knives in my work .I chop wire cable , hoses , plastic and wood and it still looks like new and holds a good edge .

This is the best value knife you will find anywhere. 1/4 inch full tang stainless steel. It is truly a beast and a very nice knife. I paid 20 bones with free shipping from BUDK. Could not be happier with my purchase or the service I received. Buy it, you will not regret it.

this is the 2nd mtech bowie I have purchased from BUDK as soon as my brother Chris saw the first one I bought, well, lets say it went back to Texas with him. I used to own another name brand that looked just like this one, except it cost almost 10 times as much, and this mtech is the EQAL to it in every way, gave the "other one " to a friend, thats how much I like this one. you can always trust BUDK to bring the best.

Well worth $20 Reviewed by Kevin on Feb 15, 2014   5 out of 5

I ordered 2 of this "trailmaster" copy last year(2013). I really wanted the cold steel but I couldn't make myself spent $150 on a single knife. I did some research comparing Mtech knife and trailmaster and specs looked similar except it's Stainless steel. (The web description says 420 steel but on the knife it's marked 440.) Reviews were great so I decided get one extra as a backup. So far it has gone with me to 1 camping trip, 4 bonfire trip to the beach. I used it for batoning for most of the time and some tinder making works. It came out of the box surprisingly sharp and after all the abuse I never needed to sharpen or touch the edge at all. It did lose some sharpness since day 1 but it still slice through papers and No chips on the edge yet. It looks like a 30' edge. I plan on re-profiling and putting 20' edge on one of the knife. The black epoxy coating it little rough and it adds to the friction when batoning, so I used 600 grit wet sandpaper to smooth it out. Epoxy due wear off during normal use and while sanding. Wetsand very lightly. Sheath is ok, it works. It is a great value knife. I don't have to worry about breaking or losing it. Next knife on my shopping list is the Gurka Kukri! It looks like a great chopper.

Fantastic knife Reviewed by Roy on Feb 08, 2014   5 out of 5

I took this knife on a weekend hiking/camping trip just to see how long it would take me to break or damage it, the woods were covered with 1/4" of ice, and it snowed the first night, we chopped wood, split wood, threw the knife into trees, stuck it in the frozen ground, we tried to damage this knife. A few days later I split a large pile of more wood. NOTHING more than dulling the blade in the center. this knife preformed like a $100 knife. After a good sharpening it shaved the hair on my arm.

Piece of junk Reviewed by bob foster on Jan 10, 2014   1 out of 5

Reading all the positive reviews and watching the vids on this Trail Master knockoff I was anxious to receive mine. It arrived quickly and on time, was perfectly boxed and wrapped and when I unwrapped found a piece of well packaged junk. The blade is bent in a noticeable arch, the blade is not in line with the tang or handle and the guard was loose. I called mtech and gave them the order number and they said they would send a return address sticker and I could return it. To date I've not recieved anything. It looks like I'm stuck with a $30.00 bent piece of steel with an edge on one side and a guard that is loose and rattles when I shake it.
