I MUST SAY THAT I WAS IMPRESSED WITH THE SWORD ONCE I REMOVED IT FROM IT'S BOX. I'VE USED IT FOR FORMS AND TRAINING, AS WELL AS GIVING SOME PRETTY GOOD TEST-CUT DEMONSTRATIONS. FOR THE PRICE, I FEEL THE MUSASHI BRAND IT ON PAR WITH ANY OF THE OTHER HAND-MADE BRANDS LIKE SOKOJIKARA, OR SHIKOTO, AND SHINWA. LOVED THE CERTIFICATE THAT CAME WITH IT, AS WELL. GREAT PIECE OVERALL. 10/10

Note that this is my first blade, and I am absolutely by no means a practitioner of any sword-art. Came beautiful and unscathed out the box with the blade wrapped in plastic. First thing I noticed was that the entire assembly was firm and did not jiggle one bit. No funny "loose" sounds when shaking it around, and the blade itself is quite sharp straight out of the box. Being just as ecstatic as any other first-time blade owner, I took it out and sliced a few bottles and gallons filled with water. Clean cuts, no resistance, and as light as the water bottles are, it wouldn't even knock/jiggle the bottle off the table. Target would sit nice and steady. Now- toughness. As I've stated, I am by no means a practitioner of any sort in the world of swords. At one point I gave quite a sloppy hard swing being overly-confident in the blade, and I knocked a hard-plastic gallon filled with water away a solid 15-20 feet away (I essentially baseballed it quite hard by accident, it gave a violent vibration through my arms). I was practically 100% sure that I bent/warped the blade, but shockingly, not a lick of damage was made to the blade. No warping, no bending, no chips. Not a single thing. That won my vote. Anybody who's scared that this blade might be a bit cheap just because it's barely above $100, rest assured, this thing is quite willing to eat a mistake or two. Perfect first blade for practice, or just some backyard slicing. Keep in mind I'm not saying that this thing is immortal, but it certainly is tougher than I anticipated it would be.

I got my katana in yesterday, I've got to say it is the best one I've got for under $200 everything is very tight on it and extremely sharp very well built . this is my fist from true swords and will not be the last. THANKS FOR MAKING A GREAT SWORD FOR A GREAT PRICE.

I love this sword! Looks feels great, tight fittings, sharp blade (though not a razor edge), hamon is beautiful all said....can't beat this sword for the price!
Feb 12, 2015

I would just say that this sword is beautiful! Well put together, nicely weighted, the tsuba is thick, pictures don't do it justice. The blade came in excellent condition, the hamon clear and real, just a great looking sword. Yes the blade comes sharp enough to do some medium cuts. This is my second katana and while i am not an expert, i can say that this sword gives plenty of quality for the price.

For a 90 dollar sword it was made very well. Seems durable enough. It did not come sharp but that was an easy fix. You can't go wrong for the price without paying at least 200 for another katana with the same or less quality.

Absolutely stunning katana. The blade is substantial, unlike stainless steel replicas. You can see and feel the difference. Silky smooth and deadly. Everything about it is tight and pristine, and screams of craftsmanship. The edge, although not razor sharp, is still very sharp. There is only one thing that would make it better ... a matching Wakizashi!!!

I can only agree with the multitude: this is simply an outstanding blade at this price point ($89.99). Likely the best blade below $100.

Fantastic balance point, beautiful real hamon, fast, light, and a surprisingly good cutter despite the light niku. The bohi is loud and provides great feedback. Once again I'm just amazed at this offer by Musashi.

The katana I received was in impeccable condition, perfect tsukamaki, well polished blade, extremely tight fittings. Only the saya was a tad loose and the sword kept falling off if turned upside down - but that was nothing that I couldnt fix myself with a tiny piece of veneer and 5 min of work.

I highly recommend it whether you are a beginner or an avid collector.

Last but not least, I want to stress how great are the guys at Trueswords.com. Due to a defect to another blade I purchased I discovered first hand how outstanding Jonathon and Evan are. They promptly took care of my problem (a cracked tsuka) allowing me to return the blade. They always maintained an extremely amicable and understanding tone. These guys are real professional and wont let you down. They have my business and that of my friends. 10/5.

This sword is more than worth the money you pay for it. Quality blade and fixtures. If your looking to expand or start a collection this and many other Musashi products are the best buys.

First off, I will say that the loosest fitting I could find on this katana was the collar below the tsuba, and that only wiggled a miniscule amount. Excellent blade, extremely sharp edge right out of the box. Beautiful hamon on this blade. Tsuba is very thick, and looks great. Reminds me of the Eightfold Path. Saya is great, looks very cool. (I try not to touch it so i won't get fingerprints on it--very high gloss). Blade sounds great as I swing it, very nice blood grooves. I haven't tested the theory of bending it 45 degrees, but I'm sure it would snap back to its straight form. Excellently balanced, and the saya is superbly fitted to the blade collar. Very snug. I can't wait to use it on some rice-paper targets and/or water bottles. Bravo, TrueSwords. Very well done! Also, the pricing is great! Unpassable deal.

Came sharp enough for cutting practice on mats and bamboo and plastic. Hilt is a little loose, but overall a very good buy for the price if you want a decent cutter for practice cutting. Very nice once sharpened up, recommend for beginners and anyone with the money to spend on a good backyard cutter/full contact sparring. just make sure you can stop the blade before it hits your partner, even if you're properly padded/armored :p.

It is great, its hard for me to say this but, i cant find anything wrong with it. no matter how hard i looked at it and made my head hurt, i just could not find anything wrong. "5 out of 5" says the sword critic.

I recieved this sword yesterday, it is the 3rd sword I have ordered from Trueswords. I was extremely impressed as I always am w/the workmanship and quality of the products coming out of TS. I have many other swords in my collection from vatious other manufacturers but Musashi is by far the best sword for the price HANDS DOWN!! Thanks again TS..

Bravo, Musashi, bravo!!! I am giving this sword as a Christmas gift, but when I received it in the mail I must admit evil thoughts of keeping it came to mind. The Tsuba is very thick and complements the overall style of the sword. Tightly bound wrapping on the handle. The blade has a thick spine and is perfectly straight and a very lovely hamon line. This blade is light and graceful. I am very pleased with this purchase and the receipiant will be as excited about it as I am. This is a sword that will be passed down generation to generation. Keep up the great work Musashi....I don't know how you stay in business pricing the blade like you do but thanks.

This is a GREAT katana. Extremely sharp. The edge is perfect and i cant wait to cut some up. Its a beautiful katana and for only 80 bucks, this was definatly a steal. I love this katana and it is my first edition to my new collection. I cant wait to show this off to all of my friends. If you have the money, i dont know why you are still reading this, BUY IT!

I own a number of swords, mostly mid ranged katana purchased very much with active use and wear of the blade in mind. I have purchased katana from names like hanwei that cost more then a thousand dollars.

These 80 dollar musashi blades continue to astound me. I have bought 3 now, the previous two ended up as gifts to friends who showed interested in starting a collection of just having one good blade around in case of the impending zombie apocolypse.

They are well balanced, the fittings always seem tight, the wrapping on the handle secure and providing a good grip, and a keen, solid, flexible blade ready to take lives in defense of your own.

Absolutely fascinating katana... I researched a lot of katana's, as well as material's, crafting processes's, and many other thing's before making my choice and buying this... This is literally the only blade i found for under $500 that's 1060+, has a real hamon from a real clay hardening process, and is differentially hardened, and even at the $500 price point most fell short of this... there is a downside to this blade. it is not as sharp as it could be, despite still being sharp enough to fillet a finger if you touch it wrong... I give 4 star's because my fitting's were loose, they offered to replace it, and to even send a guy to my house to pick it up and whatnot(so its no cost to me)... i declined, deciding the blade quality on mine is amazing, and not wanting to risk that... this sword cuts well, i imagine short of other steel, and of course diamond's, it will go through anything you put in front of it(WARNING: proper skill is required to use a katana correctly, damage due to improper training is your fault alone)... its still fairly winter like at my house, ruling out the majority of my cutting test's, but it easily cleave's soft target's(cardboard, pop bottle's, etc), and be careful on them, as it goes through them very quickly... have yet to test many harder target's, but it can slice half inch oak branches easily(both green and seasoned), as well as pvc and dowel... i spent a half hour this morning cutting tree limb's, not a single nick ding scratch or anything... anyone online attempting to claim this sword is cheaply made merely needs better training... what are you waiting for? BUY THIS ALREADY...

It took a bit longer to receive than expected but I, nor True swords controls fed ex. The katana itself is amazing, everything is extremely tight and well fit. The blade and hamon are perfect. I cannot believe this sword is available for this price! I would have payed twice the amount or more for this quality. I have never purchased a bladed device with the exception of the razor I shave with that is this sharp out of the box. My only complaint is the saya, there is a small defect in the wood visible when the light is right causing a ripple in the finish. The fit when in the saya is tight at the tsuba but fits quite loose as the blade runs down the length. It rattles quite a bit when moved. I dont plan on going to war or running down the street like a nut with it, so that tight a fit is of no use to me. The blade geometry is too light for a bone strike anyhow. All in all, its an f.n. incredible piece for the small investment.
I will be buying again from True swords in the near future.

Well I bought it.....
I love how it looks I love the weight lol I love the sword
But my blade was soft _._
Found some bamboo.......and nicked my edge.....
Lol I shall not swing it any more but it has is place on my rack and I treat it right ^.^
I just don't let it quench its thirst for blood ;p

I purchased this Musashi 1060 katana a few weeks ago. Upon arrival, I opened the box and examined the sword. I was impressed with the overall quality of the sword but unimpressed with the blade. On this website it is still listed as having an "extremely sharp hand-honed edge. However, it can't even cut paper and it practically safe to run my fingers down the edge because it isn't even sharp. The $10 cheap knife I bought from here wasn't very sharp either but it was far sharper than this katana. I called customer service and after several attempts got an answer and told the lady everything, and she said she would have someone check the listing and check to see if the other Musashi katanas were sharp, and if they were, to send mine back for Andrew replacement (other than me having to pay for shipping, and waiting of course), and said she would give me a call back the next day, and if they are busy, the following day. Unsurprisingly I never got a call back and got no answer when I called back several days later. My overall feelings of all of this: Buy this sword only if you plan on sharpening it yourself
Response: Thank you for contacting us, Nick. We apologize for not getting back to you, and we strive to continually improve our customer service. Thank you for this feedback; it will be used to improve the True Swords customer experience. Also, your sword should have been sharpened when it arrived to you. Please contact us again at 800-735-3326 if you are still unhappy with your purchase, and we will be happy to offer a refund or exchange. Thanks again.
