Over all this was a good product. they look pretty nice. their weights are almost perfectly matched to my katana, they were delivered on time and they are pretty studsy for some good practice. The reason I couldn't a five out of five is because there was a petty large chip on the natural bokken. so I was pretty disappointed but I expected it free m reading the other reviews. it's and easy fix anyway just get some super glue. I'm very happy with this though and I will definitely order more from Trueswords. PS Try putting bubble wrap on the ends it may help a ton! ;)

**CAUTION** I purchased this set several months back for kata practice and sparring purposes. Arrived on time with everything neatly packed, noticed the black bokken had what appeared to be a superficial crack running from the kissaki down the spine about 18 inches where another seemingly superficial crack ran from a knot in the middle of the spine all the way down remaining length of the bokken where the natural bokken was just fine, though the tsuba moves up and down a lot during practice because the stopper doesn't fit properly but that isn't a big deal. During a sparring session, however, things went badly. Both held up relatively well the first time. But during the second occasion, the black bokken split in three places around the kissaki, split about 1/3 of the way along the spine and blew out in a couple places along the ha and the ito came undone halfway up the tsuka. Keep in mind we weren't swinging these things like clubs, trying to smash eachothers' bones. This was a light-contact kumitachi and it COMPLETELY FAILED while parrying a strike. Luckily nobody was injured. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THESE BOKKEN TO ANYONE. Clearly the quality control department behind whomever it is that makes these is either lax or incompetent and there's now way of knowing what the quality of the bokken will be when you order. Do yourself a favor and shell out a few extra bucks and get solid red oak bokuto from a well-known kendo or budo retailer. The only reason I give these two stars is because nobody was hurt and they are well shaped and weighted for a good approximation of a live, carbon steel katana.
Response: Hello, We apologize that your Bokken broke during sparring. Since you are not satisfied with the product, you may return an item within 60 days of purchase. You can contact us at 1-800-735-3326 to obtain a return label for your package. Thanks!

I have had these training swords for 2 years now and they have only encountered a couple of problems. The tan one had a lot of black marks all over it but you would expect that from a black sword hitting the tan one. There is a tinny bit of chipping at the tips of the swords. And the biggest problem on multiple occasions the grips stared falling off where I had to burn them together. but know I just duck taped over them because they were annoying. But over all for 16 bucks its great fun with friends.

These Bokken are very solid and have at or a little above the weight of the real blade and make excellant training aids. The wrap on the handle gives the feeling of holding a live blade. These Bokken seem to flow onto my Katana rack and blend right in, well worth the price. I would also like to thank True Swords for solid products at a low price and customer service that is second to NONE! 5 stars all the way.

I like them both, but the only problem was the natural bokken was chipped.

Good buy definetly have to buy more...wrapping was incredibly loose making the glue kinda pointless...still worth another buy or two though

Very good for the price! When I received them they were in perfect condition (minus 2 small flaws: on the natural one the wrapping was a bit off and there was a small smear of metallic paint on it). They seem extremely durable; and mine had no problem with the hand guard fitting! I haven't sparred with them yet; I mostly got hem for show, which they do very well! I'll just have to face the wooden one on the side with no paint on it. The black bokken feels heavier than the natural, but that is probably because of the paint. But for 16 bucks for 2 bokken, you can't really complain! Good for show or to practice with! Will definitely be buying from True Swords again for some katanas!

I got this product in just 1 day after i ordered it but i was kinda disappointed. after opening it i found that the brown bokken was much heavier than the black. The black bokken had a point of paint chip off when i placed it on the ground and the brown had scuff marks at the top. But it does not have any paint transfer of any kind even during hard core training

I purchased these swords awhile back and never got around to reviewing them. They're wonderful, full contact and not one thing wrong with them.

First off the shipping was expensive, 15 dollars. Then it took 6 days to ship to my house. Overall, not worth it. They dent and swap paint and Now my brother doesn't want to use them because of it. And we bought it for that reason. My first buy from True Swords, And I am deeply disappointed. A waste of 30 dollars.

This may only apply to my personal experience, but honestly, I regret buying these.
On first day, both of the wrappings on the handles fell off, then the black one splintered halfway along the the side of the blade (which later led to huge chunks flying off of the blade). Another complaint would be that the two swords swap paint and dent very easily.
This is the only time Trueswords has disappointed me.

Great for how cheap they were. I live a few states over but it was here within the week. True Swords handles everything very courteously and professionally. The natural wood one is darker then it appears in the picture but it looksgreat all the same and the black one is heavier but not by much if anything that will just give you a little bit of choice over what you want to train with, lighter faster or heavy stronger. I personally haven't had any problems with the wrapping. Very happy with the product and when I have more money I plan on buying a real katana and i can think of no better site to do it from then this one.

these swords are good but not great. first the good the blade is strong can take heavy hits when sparring and feels like a real katana. the bad. the handwrap on the black one came off almost as soon as i started sparring and the other one is about to. the gaurd is sturdy but jingles around when moved and doesent want to stay on.also the white washer looks ugly. so its a decent buy about what i was expecting if the company used a stronger glue and maybe change the washer from white to say brown then it would be an exelent buy but for the price its all right and i got what i wanted thank you true swords

First of all, I have to say that this product is amazing. I've used it to spar with a friend and to practice alone and both of these bokken are just amazing; however, I do have a couple minor complaints that don't affect the use of the bokken much. First off, the natural bokken feels just a hair lighter than the black bokken. I presume this is due to how the wood is treated to use the black finish on the bokken. The only other complaint I have is that the wrapping on the handle slides over time, not enough to get in the way of use, just enough to notice when you examine it. Okay, I lied, ONE MORE complaint. The tsuba slides too easily, but if you're using it, it really won't get in the way. All things considered, great value and great feel.

like them they are good for practice low price
just 1 thing the ribbon on the handle came off but it is better with out it so if u do get it and it comes off take some black tape and it will be fine.
