Product Description
Big, bad and delightfully savage, Ridge Runner's colossal "Brimstone Canyon" Machete is a bladed predator with an insatiable appetite for demanding, rigorous field work. Its mammoth, extra robust 12" blade is forged from tough stainless steel, delicately arched for extreme chopping power. The hefty blade makes quick work of even the most challenging jobs - hacking stout limbs, slashing fibrous plant stalks and chopping kindling. But the "Brimstone Canyon" isn't all serious business; handsome scalloping and sleek beveling along the blade spine add a charming touch of grace, and the rugged pakkawood handle showcases elegant grain and a rich mahogany hue. Brilliant, mirror polished stainless steel guard and pommel beautifully offset the tastefully mellow allure of the pakkawood, while providing added stability and hand protection. Despite its impressive size, the Brimstone Canyon is easy to transport, thanks to the included heavy duty nylon belt sheath. The sheath, along with proper use and care, helps ensure your Ridge Runner Brimstone Canyon Machete is poised and ready for action for years and even decades to come!
I wouldn't know about chopping through a jungle but pizza, brisket, boneless pork shoulder, chuck roast - no defense. regular sharpening with a ceramic rod.

Beautiful and the best
The blade is sharp , narrower than some other knives I have . The curve of the blade and the length is perfect ,.... Makes the Best Pizza Cutter Ever !!!! Everyone who tries it likes it .

Better than expected
Works better than the Hatchet for some things. Holds the edge really well no rolls or chipping upon heavy use on tight grain wood. Great price point as I got it at 19.98. I recommend.

I'm Buying another one
It big ridiculous ominous looking knife had some flaws out of the box it was sharp no complains. The base of the knife right by the guard was very scuffed. The scales didn't fit great the tang on both sides were sticking out not by a lot but enough to snag your finger nails. The same thing with the pins on both sides. The guard was a bit loose moving side to side and the grind was crooked in one side. I have attached a video to my review. All that being said like the headlines says I'm Buying another one. Received the second one way better quality and lighter by about 8 grams. I will be returning the 1st one to exchange for another one.

1 Monster Machete
Only 20.00 bucks and you get a easily $70.00 piece of incredibly well made piece of hardware that will definitely outlast any tasks you can swing it at! I couldn’t believe the quality after opening and examining this monster machete will definitely stand the test of time and abuse anyone could throw at it! Thank you Bud K for one extraordinary deal !!

Get to da CHOPPA!!!
Strong, sharp well built knife. After an afternoon of processing bait, it "still" held a hair shaving edge!!! I, am very pleased...

Get to the CHOPPA!!!
The pictures of this knife here does not do it justice on just how "MASSIVE" this blade actually is! Very well made, strong and stout! Prepared bait with it the moment I got it and it went thru scale and bone like literally a hot knife thru butter and remained "arm shaving sharp"!!! Buying 2 more for my son and nephew. They're gonna love it every bit as much as I do...

Look good
If you purchase this blade do so for display. If you actually use it outdoors to cut vegetation then expect to replace it soon. LJP

Ridge Runner Brimstone Canyon Machete
I'd call it more of a parang than a machete since it's more of a chopper than a cutter. But whatever you call it, it is a well-fitted, full tang, substantial blade perfect for the outdoorsman and survivalist. By the way, the Ridge Runner Renegade Bowie is an excellent companion piece. They have the same wood grain pakkawood handles and the same pommel. I only wish they each had leather sheaths instead of nylon, but at these prices, I won't complain. I highly recommend each of these products.

Good blade
I was amazed with the weight and sturdiness of this blade. Not a junk flea market buy! You get more than what you pay for in my opinion.
David Pettingell Jan 23, 2019 (5 out of 5)
Great!
I was really surprised at the hardiness of this machete. It is quite good-looking, but at the same time very strong and exceptionally heavy-duty.. It should easily last a lifetime. My oriental wife has ruined many a nice kitchen knife, using them to hack thru bones, gristle, and tough meat. This one, however, will definitely stand up to any abuse she might put it through. Not just a meat cleaver, but also a super hunting knife - not too long, well-balanced, and "ouch" verrryyy sharp!!! I love it, and will definitely buy another one (or two).

It's very nice!
Just received the Brimstone Canyon Machete and It's very nice. Now if I don't use it for an axe, like some people have done,I believe it'll last for a long time.

not for sissys
this machete is impressive, ive read some reviews that stated the blade bent or chipped, its not a sledgehammer, nor is it for cutting down oak trees, its built well, the blade is sharp, and its great for 20.00 dollars, ive used machetes that cost 4 times as much as this, and they werent built as good as this, take it from DR.DETROIT, CLIFF LYNCH. this is a great machete, i have two, and they are rugged, and they are one heck of a conversation starter. i recommend this great product

Great deal Minor Flaw!!!
Bought this Mainly cause it looks Cool & wicked kinda like the Hibben RAMBO Machete !!! Was impressed with the quality and looks and Free shipping. Only negative on mine atleast is where the Scales ( handle slabs fit behind the Guard / hilt weren't finished as Good as the rest of the Hilt /handle instead of being a smooth clean fit it's a Little bit Rough and whiskery at the Guard hilt juncture - Granted it's in an area that most people will never look see or notice but it brings the overall fitment of the Knife down because it shouldn't have been left undone ! Still given the price and overal quality otherthan this one issue I would say it's a Keeper!!!!

Ok,for small stuff
This doesn't have a heat treated blade.mine bent when cutting a2" green cherry branch..I think cutting 1" diameter stuff,it would be fine.very sharp.
Anonymous Mar 17, 2018 (5 out of 5)
Great Machete
I love this machete! It came razor sharp & after a few swipe with a honing rod it will cut you if you stare at it to long. I have put this tool to the test on a weekend camping trip & had no failures. As for someone's comment about wedging it in a 2" sapling that is bull. I went thru 2" saplings as if they weren't there. I processed firewood for my campfire that were up to 4" in diameter & even split them into quarters. In my opinion if you can't down a sapling 2" in diameter with this machete, something is wrong you.
Quan Tran Feb 24, 2018 (5 out of 5)
Cool Machete
Really cool looking Machete for the money! Very razor shap. The only thing I wish is this Machete can be a little longer.
Anonymous Feb 10, 2018 (5 out of 5)
WOW
I can't believe what I received for $20.
This is a big honking chopper with some real weight behind it, craftsmanship was outstanding.
I'm sure this will do the job my 24" machetes fear to undertake.
Came paper cutting sharp outta the box.
It's sometimes a crap shoot when buying from BudK, quality, they hit it outta the park with this one.

Zombies have no chance!
This is truly an amazing blade. A heavy, eight inch thick, 440 stainless steel, full tang blade. The tang is a full inch wide as it goes through the handle. The finish is awesome and the pakkawood handle is perfectly smooth and the handle rivets are flat to the wood. Great fitment. Impressive to say the least. Fit my hand is comfortable and this thing came super sharp right out of the box, it shaved the hair off my arm sharp! The nylon sheath has three release snaps to hold the blade securely in place and is above average quality. Very nice. Don't pass this one up! If your saying "what am I gonna use that for?" You can always use it to carve your ham or turkey, i'm sure your guests will be impressed.. At this price, you just cant go wrong. Oh and if the zombie apocalypse starts, YOU are READY! Thanks BudK!

The BEAST
Bigger then you think, but lighter then my USN MK3. Katana style curve and sharpness will surely slice, dice and cleave anything I can think of. Appears tight and well made, pummel should provide a decent hammer for lack of one. Time will tell if it survives my abuse, but I'm glad I got it to try. Very impressed

Awesome knife
This knife/machete is sharp right out of the box. I was surprised just how light it is for its size, which is large! Made in China so only time and a little hacking with it will tell the tale of how good this blade is.
Clifton Gray Jan 31, 2018 (5 out of 5)
Excellent
This is a quality collector knife and a well made tool. I can honestly say that I would not use this to chop down a tree but it does work great to dive up that 12 point deer you have in the truck bed. It came with a really sharp edge so be careful taking it out of the box. It does bite. This is a thing of beauty and should be used. I would not put it out for display or as a wall hanger if you do you do not plan on having it for long. It will walk out one day. As a meat cutter I recommend this as your lead survival knife or for using in the kitchen. The price is so low it staggered me when I saw the quality. I think I will get a backup B4 they are all gone.

shipped to me 2 days early so that's sweet! Great freaking knife nothing really more to say, don't think about it just get you'll be happy, im glad i did. its a hefty beast but feels good in the hand for splitting up kindling around the camp, shes a chopper and came sharp out of the box. just a great knife. thanks again budk!

Great Knife, but one issue.
I ordered this knife because I wanted to get something fun for me. My only issue, though, is that after its first use, the guard came loose, that's the only reason for the four stars, but it is still a great knife.
All in all, though, it is a great knife! one of my idiotic brothers even accidentally slipped and hit a cement brick with it; all that happened was that it chipped the brick, and the blade was just a little dull in that area which was a pretty easy fix.

Good value chpper for the price
Good Chopper for $20. More of a Parang than a Machete but decent quality for the price. Sharp as delivered with more of an Axe bevel edge so I'd suggest resharpening to a steeper angle for use. Nice full tang but the handle is designed for a large hand. Mine has the through tang material extending past the handle wood creating a slight ridge both top and bottom. Also the handle is a bit "blocky". I prefer a slightly rounded underside providing a smoother grip for my fingers. The blade is forward heavy and would benefit from larger Fullers and bevels at the front of the blade. Although stamped 440ss, it doesn't hold an edge well and needs sharpening regularly. Not for Hard Wood, more of a soft vegetation chopper. In my testing I found it great for soft vegetation but not so good on Scrub Oak. That said, it’s a good quality blade for $20! With 15 minutes work on my 1” belt sander, I now have a smooth, well-shaped handle and proper angle edge for this chopper. I have no doubt it’ll see a lot of use at our off-grid cabin this summer.

Real Saw Back
The saw back on the blade is the best i'v seen, sharp, aggressive, keeps teeth after so many branches i'v cut, and the grip is alsome, even with wet hands, hand grip holds, no slippage, the weight of blade makes short work trimming what needs to be cut,, all in all, very functionable Machete, would be 5 star but the sheath needed upgrade, i added material to prevent curve of blade from rubbing hole,,,,,,,,,

Beefy machete
Feels good in your hand, swings nice & cuts deep. Holding an edge pretty good so far & it gets used to hack & chop every thing.

Crack in blade
Very nice knife received it as part of a SHTF box last year I like it a lot but recently I found a crack on the blade nothing that effects the performance of it right now but it could change in the future.

Dream On
Feels good in the hand, expected it to be heavier though. Like the engraving but wish it was on Both sides. Excellent chopper! Don't believe too many "zombies" would come after you with this in your hand.
Anonymous Apr 13, 2018 (3 out of 5)
Not a hardened blade
For such a big blade this knife is light. Just don't hit anything too tough. The blade is not hardened too well.
Anonymous Apr 13, 2018 (3 out of 5)
Ok,for brambles, Breyers, sumac
Thid is heavy ,will be fine for cutting sumac Breyers brambles ,anything soft .The first piece of hardwood bent the blade. The blade is not hardened.
Timothy Cornell Apr 09, 2018 (3 out of 5)
A little disappointed.
Decided to test it out on some small branches that kept hitting me in the face while mowing. They were only about as thick as a 2x4 so I didn't see a problem with using it. It did not work. The blade bent as though I were chopping through oak logs for fire wood. Nothing I can't reshape, it looks bad ass and feels it to, but I won't be using it for field work...just maybe a deterrent for animal attacks or something.
John Espartero Feb 16, 2018 (3 out of 5)
Great knife for the price
The knife arrived well packed and razor sharp right out of the box! I put it to the test and chopped down some overgrowth in the yard, it did the job fairly well and stayed sharp until I lodged it into a 2" sapling, the side to side movement to free the blade was enough to warp the edge indicating that the steel is a bit soft but for $20 it's still a good deal.
Brent R Little Sep 22, 2019 (1 out of 5)
One bush one broke
I used it to cut some brush and the first 1 inch sapling it broke. It split about a half inch from sharpened area in the middle of the blade. The split was approx 3 inches long. I would not buy another one and I'm going to return it to the store I bought it at. Cheap steel.

Brittle Blade
Buy cheap and buy twice. I'm always looking for good blades to use in trimming mangroves in our wetlands. Unfortunately this blade looks good but doesn't perform well. The second time I used it on a soft piece of mangrove the blade chipped badly for no particular reason that I can see. The blade must not have been formed properly nor hardened appropriately. Stay away. You get what you pay for.
