This samurai saya sword features a 27-1/2" stainless steel blade with a traditional Japanese inscription. A decorative habaki, tsuba, menuki and pommel add tons of old-world style and authenticity to this saya. The imitation ray skin handle is wrapped in maroon-colored cord. The scabbard features an opening that allows the Japanese inscription to be visible even while the blade is sheathed.

Purple Samurai Sword

"This sword is an excellent piece. It has an elegant design, and is visually impressive."

translation

"Using google's image translator, it seems that the "inscription" is actually in Chinese and translates to "There are gods in ancient and modern times who serve people with lofty ideals". Still a cool sword at a great price."

Perfect

"I love it. It feels good in your hands and is semi sharp and looks amazing. Thanks budk"

Ben (5/5)

Great quality for the price

"Was expecting an unsharpened sword but is sharp, not razor sharp. Sheath is great quality. Overall the sword in my opinion was under priced. Excellent craftsmanship"

Jeffrey A. (5/5)

BEAUTIFUL

"This sword is BEAUTIFUL!! The cord on the handle is almost purple and well wrapped. I love the tsuba as well. The blade on this sword is a thing of beauty. Mine came sharp enough to cut through water bottles and milk jugs. But it's so pretty I don't wanna do that and risk scratching it. If you're thinking about getting this sword, stop thinking, just get it. Thanks BudK!!"

Built for beginners

"I got the sword a day early and was very please with the quality and colors. The handle WAS wrapped with a deep purple color, contrary to what the description states. The color is slightly lighter than what is pictured, but still looks very cool. Scabbard is made of fragile wood, but grips nicely and looks decent. Very good for the price."

Excellent for the price. Blade

"Excellent for the price. Blade is sharp and fittings are indeed metal. Of course there are some little things like the habaki isn't tight around the blade but it does make an amazing display. And it is well made enough that you could easily show it off."

The scabbard is very breakable

"The scabbard is very breakable but it sure holds onto the blade well enough I can hold it upsidedown and shake it around withbnout it falling out the blade isnt straight but its suprisingly durable for stainless steel its very light and easy to carry"

This is the most awesome

"This is the most awesome thing I own it is awesome My video games are a close second :)"

Elijah M. (5/5)

The handle wrap is black

"The handle wrap is black which looks cool but the other nylon wrap is purple not maroon or red as pictured. The blade in nice and the sheath is light. Like others have said, be careful with the sheath, its fragile. I dont appericate the nylon on the sheath purple. It looks cooler and manly with the maroon nylon."

Q&A

Trying to find out if this blade is a decorative ’wall hanger’ or is a capable ‘battle ready’ blade; meaning that it won’t snap in half or pop the peg in the handle and fly across the year and decapitate my son. TIA
No, the "Purple Samurai Warrior Sword with Open Scabbard" is likely not truly battle-ready for real combat, as descriptions often specify it is a beginner's sword or made with 1045 steel, which is less durable than 1095 steel used in higher-end functional swords. While "battle ready" is used, it often signifies a fully functional sword that is sharp and capable of cutting soft targets like tatami or pool noodles, not a weapon for high-impact combat or heavy use.
