Engrave this item?
This replica sword mimics the rapier design used in Europe during the 16th and 17th centuries. It features a 36 1/2" stainless steel blade and a traditional handle with a wire wrapped grip surrounded by an authentically styled silver twisted steel guard. A black leather sheath with a silver chape and throat is included.
For the cost, it’s cool to have. Ya the scabbard is crappy. The blade is flimsy. But holding it in your hand feels really very cool! The engraving is a very nice touch! A Princess Bride type sword!
I really liked the look of the sword as the wire-basket hilt and rapier style matched my intended persona of a Musketeer, but I was somewhat worried about the negative reviews I had seen. I did note that none of the negative reviews were too recent so I took the plunge and ordered one with my name engraved on the blade. I was very pleased with it when it came in. No defects at all - tight, straight blade, wire-wrapping on handle, and leather scabbard were all in pristine condition as expected. The free knife that was thrown in was nice too - I'll definitely return here for any of my replica weapon needs.
When I first received this sword I was not impressed. The quality was poor and it looked like no thought was put into it. My first problem with it was the handle, the wire wrap felt like it was barbed wired and the guard rattled and felt like it would disconect anytime. The guard felt like it was spray painted and looked just awful. Then there was the problem with the blade, the blade was off center when connecting to the handle which made it very crooked and the center of the blade was bent and the blade clearly showed it leaving a black bend mark. The scaberd was all twisted and the metal easily slipped off, it almost looked like it was done by less than a novice. All in all, it was a very disappointing buy.

This sword is the bomb!Gorgeous indeed. Just saw 3 musketeers. I now see why evert one kept calling it a 3 musketeers sword. Oh if you guys have an extra scabbard laying around i will by it. As the that came with it had a bent tip and is a little long..But great sword.5 STARS
The sword is good, but that scabbard is so tight, you have to pull very hard to get the sword out.
excellent, very beautiful sword. the wire wrap could use a little more length to it. but nothing that would cause any discomfort when cos-playing as a pirate or Frenchmen. over all a beautiful piece
Can you guys make hand forged replicas of the rapiers from princess bride please I'm looking for one to get my sister since I'm teaching her all the lessons I took back when I was a fencer. Plus it's her favorite movie.
Response: We'll see what we can do!
I bought this sword some time ago and just now writing the review on it. What can I say This rapier was my first sword that I bought. The reason being I wanted a replica just like in three musketeers. It looks great
This is a really beautiful sword. I presented this sword to my best friend at his wedding. I had his military service engraved on this sword with the US Army medalian attached to the sheath. So this made an incredible gift and I would recommend this sword to anyone whose looking for something elegant and beautiful.
I have waited three years for my rapier and finally after I have one and going to get one to match it. it balance is good the weight is heavier than I thought it would be and that makes it really good . I can spare with a friend after getting the matching one. The fame of the Rapier Sword ... well the name speaks for itself. I would recommend the Rapier to collectors and others who would like a piece of history and for the fun of learning how to use a real sword . Thanks BUDK .
Kudos to the BUDK Customer Service Team, and especially the "Lead Representative". I received the replacement for the original damaged Rapier, and this one is EXCELLENT! The blade is as straight as an arrow, and the spiral guard is positioned nicely. Very nice. I am proud to display this piece. Note to other customers: NEVER "go away mad"...ALWAYS call BudK Customer Service...they will do everything they can for you.
I received this sword as a Christmas gift, and upon opening the box and taking out the sword, I noticed the blade had a bend to it near the tip. I also noticed 'burr' lines on each one of the guard wirings. No part of the guard seemed to be finished or buffed. The guard was also out of alignment with the pommel. VERY poor quality for the price. Even though this is a 'display' piece, I noticed that the blade is loose in the guard. I would expect this from a $20 piece, but NOT for $80 plus extra shipping cost. I am very seriously considering returning this item. Not the level of QUALITY I usually have from BudK.
I’m giving it 4/5 because it’s a little bit hard to judge. The sword itself is awesome. I wanted something like this after watching films like “The 3 Musketeers†(the ones before the 2011 version) and “The Man in the Iron Mask†which is the same thing I guess.

Anyway, this is the third real sword that I have bought from this site. The other two were “Tiger Sand Garden Samurai Sword†and “Samurai Special-Bamboo Full Tang High Carbon Steelâ€.

So this Rapier is very different. I’m finding it hard to store it because I don’t want to put stress on the blade which is thin, but it is Rapier.

Overall, it’s a GREAT sword. But if you’re like me who collects Samurai swords, expect something different when you get this. Also be mindful of where you’re going to put it.
I too had a loose blade in the handle. I disassembled it and applied pliers and got rid of the noice and looseness. I had to take a round and flat file to many of the weld joints on the grip basket. This off course took off the crome plating in spots but better that than the rough edges. It looks a bit worn but it looks good. The blade is very nice. The price was excellent. The sheath turned out to be pliable when the blade is removed. Looks whimpy... but then again... during many Ren faires the blades are not to be drawn in public. so the issue cannot be seen. IF one wants a Ren faire rapier... and you don't mind a little work... this one is good for the price.
So I was excited to see this blade up close and personal, and my excitement was not in vain. This is a beautiful peace of work, this is my best purchase by far. There are some signs of wielding, but the sheer beauty of this sword out weighs all of that... This is my second sword from trueswords, and I will be back to purchase more...
Better than expected. Beautiful piece to round out my collection of some 130 knives swords and daggers. My only problem is I've purchased most of what I like. Wish there were more new items to choose from. Have ordered from five major outlets, and BudK is the best out there in prices, service, and selection. Thanks BudK for all of your super deals.
Elegant and beautiful! However, there are obvious signs of welding on the hilt guard, and this makes it look poorly crafted on closer inspection.
I love it! Beautiful elegant great for just carrying or practicing I can't stop ordering stuff from u guys. So many great swords
This is an estoc sword, meaning edge-less. The hilt is unstable and the blade bends easily. The sheath is also flimsy. Still a good sword.
when i bought this i was expecting a piece of crap because had read all the reviews. When it came in the mail i opened it up and could not have been more happier. it looks just like the rapiers used in the 1993 muskateers movie. i fell in love with this sword its everything you could ask for. FYI theres a dagger that goes with the sword for 18 bucs. i will definately be buying from here again
I ordered two of the silver Rapiers to mount on a wall plaque that I made. The Rapiers seem to be well made except that one squeaks when I move it around. Since I am mounting it on the wall that squeakiness doesn't matter. The hand guard is a bit bigger then I expected, but it looks nice on the wall and feels very nice in the hand. I would very much so recommend this sword to others and other swords from BudK. This is the second type of sword I have ordered from Budk and will be a repeat customer.
For how much it was its a nice piece to have. Came to me NOT sharp, however I am NOT complaining. I like the blade very much.
The workmanship of this one is mediocre but for the price not too bad. Certainly heavy and deadly, and long. I ordered this as a ceremonial sword for my second wedding. For some reason the shipping company sent it to my ex-wife's house. So now she gets a sword and she doesnt know why. Shipping company I admire your inclination in exwife relations but you didnt do anything good for me there. I was able to retrieve it and cut the cake at the wedding with it. It was too long to really wear in the end. Payment and shipping were cumbersome to say the least.
This sword was good.. a bit longer then i thought that it would be. perfect graduation present. :) i think that i will be ordering alot more swords from Budk.com
not as exclusive as the site would have you believe. As for the sword, it is not full tang, which for someone like me who does live steel fighting, that's a pretty big down. However, this sword is pretty sturdy for what it is. The blade is nice and whippy, like any good rapier should be. In the end, it's no Toledo steel, but it's a very nice start to a collection of weapons for anyone interested in the live steel fighting industry. Editor's Note: Thank you for your comments. well this is my first sword and im very happy with it. its heavier than i expected. sure the guard is a little rough but its nothing you cant fix with emry cloth. the blade is a little crooked but im thinking leaning it on a wall for awile will fix that. on the inside of the box. it looked like the guard wanted to rip thru but thats expected. the only thing i dont like about this is the sheath. it grips the sword too tightly so its hard to whip out right now, after use, it might be fixed tho.
I personally do not own this weapon, but, 3 of my friends do, and I have used the swords they bought in rapier tournaments. I will say, this weapon, though less than $100, is incredible in quality, and functionality. And, even after a 20 minute dual, it still received minimal scratches, ,and no dents in the blade. I was highly impressed, and loved every minute of using this weapon.
The guard is a great dissapointment, the corners aren't cleaned up from welding nothing was filed down to any sort of a clear corner. The blade itself is a good blade bends nicely and seems to be good steel, the grip isn't bad but not special either.
This sword appears to be well made. Very solid, and larger than I expected. The grip is approximately 4", and the wire basket/guard is 8" long by 6" across. The blade has a "flex" to it which is normal for a rapier style. The black leather sheath is well made and sturdy, but there is no hook or notch for mounting. The picture is an excellent representation of it. A little off balance, but I don't think you are going to use it for dueling. Right???
ok so first off--i hate rapiers, i only bought this for my friend cos he loves them. anyway so I have to say i just got this today and i was actually kinda impressed. nnothing i would like in my collection but still it looks nice overall. the sheath it came with is flimsy, the cage around the hilt is bigger then expected and the blade is a bit wobbly but that i think is typical seeing as its a fencing sword. it was hella longer than i expected, but it feels ok in my hand. the pommel came a bit loose but i just tightened it, no big deal. it is way to fancy for my taste, but once again i dont like rapiers and this isnt mine so yeah. doesnt matter much to me. i honestly give it a 4.7
Very nice Ren blade. It's a shiny blade and well detailed. Putting this on your belt will definately grab attention at any Ren Fair.
Just received my rapier today. Overall I'm extremely satisfied with the product. The only notable flaw is that there is that the hilt is slightly unstable. Nothing unable to be quickly repaired.
First, before I get into the product that I bought I'd like to say that I have bought over $1000 dollars worth of merchandise from True Swords. I've bought knives, swords, spears and shields and have always been impressed with all that I have received an the time that it has taken to be delivered and will continue to do business with True Sword; so on to the point. Just received my Rapier today, wasn't pleased because the hilt was very unstable; now i don't know if that was due to shipping or poor craftsmanship but i read the same about some other peoples. I will however continue to do business here.

P.S can you start making your swords out of carbon steel, just a thought.
I really wanted to get a rapier and this was one that I liked and that was pretty cheap. i got it today and it is really nice. the only down side is that the wire wrap wiggles. it is on the sword and wont fall off but it just jiggles. the scabbard is just a rolled piece of leather basically. all in all, it is a good sword for a low price.
Very nice, lightweight and well made. Quite posibly the best rapier I have ever seen for less than $200. The spiral wrap is deceptively sturdy and the blade has a clean mirror finish.
this is a nice sword.

the blade itself is mirror finished, and easily the most attractive aspect of the rapier, and has a good degree of give to it. its decently sharp in edge and tip.

the guard is alright, though not 100% secure, as it clinks. i was disappointed about the finish, which is nowhere as brilliant in person as in photo, at least with mine.

the hilt is nice, with a nice wire wrap. minorly uncomfortable after some bare handed swinging. could be of slighlty better quality.

sheath is sufficient plain, and slightly loose toward the tip. maybe a bit too long.

worth the money. not perfect.
very unique design and light weight. the guard was alot bigger than i thought when i looked at the picture but it only adds to the overall beauty of this magnificent sword.
