"I did invest in a "EVERYDAY CARY" belt mount sheath. From the time the sound of the "Velcro Opening" 50% will disappear, then you flex your Wrist and the Steel Baton comes to life. I personally think it's that solid, end button "Ball" that seals the deal! I have used the "Stomach Poke" (Which has them exhale, and struggle to inhale) action. I have never had to use in a "Striking" mode and unless in a life threatening situation."

"What a nice stick. This steel baton is really sturdy and well built with a descent weight to it, and the handle almost sticks to your hand giving you a nice solid grip. During expansion, it snaps out soundly and locks securely into place. Getting the friction lock to let go was a task at first until I figured it out, and now I can pop it back in with little effort against a small piece of wood. A reliable defensive tool."

"I wish I could say that my experience with this baton was as good as everyone else's. The solid construction is great, but I cannot get it closed. I've followed the directions, and have hammered it down many times onto several hard surfaces. It worked the first few times, but now it seems to be stuck open for good. Judging by the other reviews, I'm guessing maybe I just got a defective one. Bummer."

"I was somewhat apprehensive about buying a baton. Years ago I had bought one and it fell apart straight out of the box. However, this time around I had the internet to do research. I didn't want to spend a lot but didn't want a piece of junk either. The S&W 21 in. heat treated baton had many more pros than cons. It came today and the quality is outstanding. I recommend this one. Being heat treated adds strength and that's what I got. Many other sites/stores do sell this at $60.00 and up. Almost feel as if I took advantage of BudK. Almost!"

I bought this baton for person protection since where I live it so not desirable due to a recent amount of break ins and etc. I now feel somewhat safer.
