Beautiful Knife

Knife is beautiful and hefty 1/4" thick steel. Sharp out of the box, well made, and heavy. Good sheath. Tom from Hawaii.

Hefty Blade

I have craved owning a true kukri for many years and never came across one that was affordable or had a traditional look or feel. When I saw the Forrest Sultan cataloged for $30 I decided to order one and eagerly awaited its arrival in the mail. When I picked up the package I immediately noticed the weight was heftier than I expected and when I unwrapped this jewel, I was very pleased to find the knife I was hoping for. The blade is truly hand made (in Pakistan) and has all the tell-tale characteristics of a hand-made blade. The spine is every bit 1/4in thick and the stacked leather handle is robust. The grind on the blade is poorly done and inconsistent from one side to the other and along the full length of the blade. However, for the price, I would say it is a good edge -- I enjoy working an edge on a blade like this myself; it makes it my blade and sharpened to my own specs. The brass hardware is somewhat rustic and not evenly ground, but I like it as it is -- hand-ground and uniquely mine. The leather sheath was a bit of a disappointment; the main scabbard is made of thick leather and has some stamping design work -- the downside is the belt-loop is gimpy and attached to the back side of the scabbard. I would not trust the belt loop to hold up under a strainious outdoor environment, but it looks nice for display and casual carry. Overall, I got what I wanted and nothing less than I expected for the price I paid for such a hefty, hand-made, kukri blade. I'm very pleased with this purchase and I will buy another one soon. I rated the blade 4star as it is not the quality you would expect from CRKT, Gerber, etc. but it is a great value for the price. Thanks BUDK
